07:33 AM ET 11.07 | So much for that idea. Nail Yakupov is not going to be traded. ... The Edmonton Oilers are going to take all the time in the world to develop the Russian sniper. The 20-year-old is going to be cuddled and coddled with equal measures of tough love mixed in here and there. Hear this. Hear this. The Oilers believe in Nail Yakupov and his future here and are going proceed to try build his spirit rather than kill it. If you needed GM Craig MacTavish to climb to the top of the Empire State Building and proclaim it, he probably would have done so. MacTavish talked to agent Igor Larianov and Yakupov himself by phone Wednesday morning from Manhattan where his presence with Kevin Lowe at a New York Rangers game led to rumors out of the East that the Oilers brass was there to trade Yakupov.

Does this mean he is as good as gone?

Why would MacT's proclamation have any truth behind it? Not that I really care what Edmonton does with a soft show-boating russian.

Yakupov staying put, after all?

So Craig and Kevin were just there for the hot dogs?

So who's he trading to the Rangers? Because a deal is coming, probably sooner than later. Rangers have too many expiring contracts and it's become clear this team as constituted isn't going to accomplish what they think they're capable of.

maybe not...but they sure looked pretty accomplished last night (DWI and BF tweak)

As I addressed on other thread, MAF has the most wins so far, or is in second or third at this point? Haven't checked recently. Not too worried about MAF until he drops a few more.

The Pens seem to have a way of bringing out the best in other teams.

He had one win less than the league leader in wins last season (23), too, even while Vokoun got 13 wins himself. And everything worked out great last spring for the Pens.

Oh, I forgot it is last Spring, which means we should be planning the Laff's parade?

As I have said, if Fleury puts on his playoff performance, sure, barbecue him. Not time yet, considering it was one game, and his D fell apart on him...early.

Del Zotto, Boyle, Pyatt, Dorsett and whatever else they will take.
