B's effort on trial

07:33 AM ET 11.07 | So far this season, partially due to injuries, the 60-minute effort has been elusive for the Bruins. For the first 10 minutes Tuesday night at the Garden, the B's were as dominant as they've been all season. Then, they went flat. The game had ebbs and flows the rest of the way, and in the shootout, it flowed away from them, giving the Bruins their fourth loss in five games. "It's frustrating. We only have ourselves to blame for it," alternate captain Chris Kelly said [Wednesday]. ... "You may be working, but if you're not working smart it can be counter-productive. I think a lot of times that seems to be the case." In losses to the Penguins, Islanders and Stars, the B's typically high compete level has come into question. That must change [Thursday].

They seem to be having a particularly tough time playing before the home crowd.

Yup, better start drinking the compete juice and taking their compete vitamins. God knows what'll happen if their bodies become more deficient in the compete chromosome.*rolls eyes*

They're bleeding in young d-men and adjusting to having Eriksson and Iginla (who's doing pretty well, I might add) in their forward corps. Maybe they can figure it out right this season, maybe it takes another summer of tuning. Either way, i'm sure management expected some hiccups.

Marchand has been the biggest disappointment, so far.
