Colts expanding Richardson's role

07:17 AM ET 11.08 | The Colts may be ready to lean a little harder on running back Trent Richardson, who could see increased usage in the Colts' passing game. Although Richardson's rushing numbers remain pedestrian -- he's averaging 3.0 yards per carry and his longest run is 16 yards -- the Colts think throwing him the ball with room to work could be productive. The 24-yarder was only Richardson's fourth reception since joining the Colts via a trade with the Browns in Week 3. "You saw it on the screen late in the game there," coach Chuck Pagano said. ... "I think as he gets more comfortable with the scheme and terminology and all those types of things and the game, the situation, the score, all those things kind of line up, if the stars all line up we'd love to get him in space more and get the ball in his hands more."

Ah yes, as he's clearly proven himself on the ground, it's time to expand those opportunities for more 3 yards per touch.
