Bryant enters critical phase of rehab

07:23 AM ET 11.08 | Kobe Bryant's injury took away one subplot when the Lakers traveled to Dwight Howard's new NBA home, though the matchup didn't suffer for drama. Meanwhile, the great player Howard no longer wanted to play with is ramping up his efforts to return. Bryant has often referred recently to "pushing" his leg harder during rehab, by which he means increasing the speed, intensity, frequency and duration of straight-line sprinting. He isn't going laterally yet; that's the next step. The hardest one. "You continue to elevate it until you get to a point where you can come back and perform at a high level," Bryant said. ... Bryant is in the final stages of his rehab, but the uncertainty ahead is why he continues to resist estimating a timetable for his return. Too much is at stake; much can still go wrong. "Honestly, I couldn't tell you," he said.

I notice something about OKC. They keep everything silent. Westbrook just played w/out announcing that he's back. KD got his big contract w/ no noise. Westbrook got his contract w/ no noise. Harden got traded and caught everybody by surprise. Ibaka got his contract w/ no problem...

Yes we do, but cautiously. I'd rather he sit out and completely heal than risk injury.

Glad the troops are able to get one here and there...

Kobe sure taught that guy how to hit big shots......

It's the Lakers Lasik procedure that allows our players to handle the bright lights...

Can't say I'm not surprised. You know the books in Vegas lost a few bucks on those two games.

But I am pleased...

Some people on here were asking why the 2nd game was worth watching....

I don't know he gets so heavily criticized for that contract. He saved the Lakers asses against the Nuggets.

I was wrong about the Lakers/Rockets game last night....might have to analyze their games differently. The bench is saving their bacon, where as the starters are garbage....

Good win for Lakers........D'A not a fan of "hack a Dwight" last year but was last night I guess..

Rockets defense is abysmal
