09:55 AM ET 11.10 | Kevin Sumlin's success in his two seasons with Texas A&M has made him a coveted coach. The Los Angeles Daily News reported last week that he's Southern Cal's top target to replace Lane Kiffin. Sumlin, who has a $2 million buyout and makes $3.1 million annually, also reportedly drew interest from NFL teams after last season. "I'm not talking about any of that," Sumlin said after A&M's 51-41 victory over Mississippi State on Saturday. "I'm talking about LSU." Asked about the buzz around his name when Kiffin was first fired weeks ago, Sumlin had said it's a positive sign that a program is winning.

I hope Sumlin stays in collge ball. NFL bores me to tears.

Glad the mods finally woke up and read my post on the Fresno St thread.

Hey mods . . . get with it, shake off the late night partying, take couple of excedrins and get in here and give us an Bama/Tigers thread to get the chat going.

What the hell does SI pay you all that $$$$$$$$$$$ for?

Not sure at all why SC wouldn't keep Orgeron at this point. Experienced, knowledgeable, winning, and cheap. His dossier since taking over is impressive: he righted the ship and, with a couple more tweaks, that team with its talent could easily contend with the likes of UCLA and ASU. Not sure about O and Stanford at this point but maybe in a couple seasons. Not sure what added value Sumlin brings. Very impressive win on Saturday even over a **very** lowly Cal team.

The Aggie's have money and Sumlin has a good thing going at A&M. He's not going anywhere.

I don't know for sure if USC will keep Orgeron, but you're right, USC has looked pretty good since he took over.

Strike while the iron in hot, sumlin.

Sadly I think this is good career advice but it sux for A&M. The Aggies can outscore most opponents as long as Manziel is there ... when he leaves the A&M offense will not be able to cover for the lack of defense.

I also hope he stays, but I still think he ends up in the NFL in about 3 years or so.

I'm going to the gun range today instead of watching the Cowboys. I would not do this on a CFB Saturday.

But what will he do when JF and Mike Evans go to the NOT FOR LONG league?

LOL, maybe you can shoot at targets with a photo of Jerry Jones on it. :-)

Sumlin's teams have done some impressive things on the offense side of the ball, but his defenses seem to be lacking. That would bother me, if I was the AD looking for a new HC.
