If they sign another late 30s catcher they must feel very good about the two youngsters coming up in the minors.

Red Sox are just doing due diligence. Players and agents want to make more of it.

After a decade of paying megabucks to steroid cheaters, the Bosox brass new agenda is to throw cheap nickles and dimes at clean clutch gamers and throw the 2013 champ roster under the bus. This is why there are no more dynasties in baseball. The suits keep playing musical chairs with the cast and so there is no continuity for success from one year to the next. So I hope half the team leaves and the Sox wind in the cellar next year.

Even Yankee fans are more articulate than that--well, at least most of them!

And why, pray tell, are the Yankees fans in a depression? The Yanks are going to spend this off-season and have made the Playoffs every year since 1995..except TWO. Yeah, we are SO depressed..

QUOTE(#4):

Backup plan if they don't get McCann and Salty signs elsewhere.

Brian McCann s the last player they should be looking at! Way to much money for what you get! Sign Salty for a cheap 2 yr 15 M or (better yet) just use Ross & Lavarnway and find a good SP in a trade! It is a really poor FA class this year....

Sign Ellsbury, and Pierzynski and field the following.
Trade Middlebrooks or Nava along with Dubront or prospect for a bigger bat if neededto play 1st or 3rd. I like Napoli, but his hip will become an issue sooner or later.
Ellsbury CF
Victorino RF
Pedr 2B
Papi DH
Pierzynski C
Nava 1B
Bogarts SS
Middlebrooks 3B
Bradley LF
