Manning may miss showdown

07:12 AM ET 11.11 | In some ways, Broncos fans would prefer not to find out just how valuable MVP candidate Peyton Manning is to the team. Quarterbacks are falling everywhere. And, for a moment out here late Sunday afternoon, it seemed, as Manning lie on the grass then when he limped off the field, that the Broncos would become the latest team to lose its starting quarterback. It's possible they could be without the best quarterback in the league for the biggest game of the season, Sunday at home against Kansas City. But, except when Manning had to sit out the 2011 season because of his serious neck condition, he has not missed a start. And anyone that knows him or has ever seen him play is aware that he will be on the field next Sunday night. "I certainly plan on (playing)," he said.

+1

Thanks to all veterans past and present for their service.

A division game and a chance to take the lead - Manning won't miss it.

Unless his leg is falling off, he's going to give it a go, but the play calling is going to get him put out for the season. Chris Clark is definitely not Ryan Clady and is turning into a turnstile when left to block someone one on one.

To all veterans, Happy Remembrance Day or Veterans Day. Take a moment at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month with a moment of silence to reflect and give thanks!

And the Cheifs D has to be licking its chomps.....with Manning hobbiled they will be coming.

How big would the fine be if N. Suh had hit Manning at the knees like that!? Seems like there were a LOT of missed calls all weekend.

Yep. My thoughts exactly. Manning is taking way too many hits, especially considering his age. At this rate, it's a major concern whether or not he'll last the season.

Chris Clark is indeed an inferior option on the blind-side (he also caused the strip-sack on Manning earlier), and the Broncos are playing it extra risky by rarely using their in-line TE to block... and even when he is back to block, he's very bad at it (i.e. Julius Thomas), and has caused multiple turnovers himself (e.g. the interception Manning threw vs the Colts when they were about to score late in the 4th was JT's fault... that didn't get as much attention as Hillman's fumble, but it should have, because it was just as crucial).

I know Julius Thomas has lots of TDs this year, but objectively he's pure gravy to this offense. If he doesn't catch those TDs, then you know it'll just be DT, Decker, or Welker instead. Taking him off the field won't keep the Broncos from losing games, but taking Manning off the field definitely *will* keep the Broncos from losing games. The Broncos coaching-staff are taking an enormous and completely unnecessary risk starting JT at in-line TE; if they were more sensible, they'd bench JT, start Dreessen, and just have Dreessen stay back and help that patch-work O-line block most snaps like a real in-line TE. Manning would take far fewer hits, and that *should* be what matters most.

Er, typo there:

"Taking him off the field won't keep the Broncos from WINNING games"

is what I mean to say.

I call my Dad, who is a WW II veteran, on this holiday every year just to thank him for his service to our country.

Manning may start, but with KC's defense as good as it is, he may not finish. Manning's original strategy for going to the Broncos was a strong team in a weak division - easy path to the playoffs. Worked for one year.
