07:19 AM ET 11.11 | An undefeated season has a way of raising the profile of a freshman quarterback, even one who isn't technically ready for the draft. [Amid] recent suggestions from some unnamed league scouts that Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston would probably be the first overall player chosen in the 2014 draft if he was eligible for the lottery, there were some quiet rumblings in the rumor-verse last week that the Florida State star might actually consider challenging the NFL's "three-year rule." Sources inside the FSU program and close to Winston adamantly insisted to NFP that the speculation was totally unfounded. ... [The rule] hasn't been tested since the ill-fated challenge by then-Ohio State tailback Maurice Clarett in 2004. Winston, of course, has been scintillating.

How many of you guys are old enough to remember this?

I've seen him run so I am certain he can also walk.

Yep. I was gonna throw in: No, but I'd walk a mile for a Camel.

We can take with some certainty that JW is also faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and can leap tall buildings in a single bound.

I'd bet JW wins the Heisman before JC.

Do you remember Winston taking a little heat, of all things, on their grammar. I think I remember seeing a commercial or an ad where they lightly crossed thru the "like" and put in "as".

The Current-Traditional Rhetoricians ruled the roost in the 50's and 60's.

The only QB drafted in the past ten years who was worth a #1 pick is Luck. A lot of the reason he was ready for the NFL was FOUR years of college.

Wait ... last year's phenom/should walk/can't-miss #1 pick ... has been replaced by this year's phenom/should walk/can't-miss #1 pick? I'm so confused. Who will it be next year? What year is it?

again people, when mike williams and mo clarrett challenged the nfl and won on the age issue it wasn't the nfl who appealed the decsion it was the ncaa who challenged, as the the ncaa bigwigs don't want college football to be college basketball, where guys go for one year, when some are ready
