Martinez's NU career over

07:29 AM ET 11.12 | For Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez, once the toast of Lincoln, the news is grim. Both the head coach and father of [Martinez] said Monday that his nagging left foot injury hasn't improved and may keep him out for the rest of his NU career. "It comes down to his foot, and his foot hasn't enabled him to play," Pelini said during his weekly press conference. "No one's more frustrated than Taylor. It's a foot injury that we knew could linger, and it really hasn't gotten much better." ... Taylor Martinez's father, Casey Martinez, told The World-Herald in a text message Monday afternoon that Taylor's injury -- which affects the second and third toes of his left foot -- "gets worse the more you do on it" and could take "6 to 8 months to fully recover."

I think TM felt pressure to play even though he really wasn't healthy enough to do so. That would seem to point to inadequate depth at QB for the Nebs.

Said! Hate to hear about any player being taken out due to injury. Hope the best for him and a speedy recovery.

I'm not feeling any pressure at all, GTH. ;-)

As to the subject matter, staring down the barrel of the end of his CFB career, of course Taylor Martinez wants to get into the game. I don't blame him. You don't blame him. No normal person would begrudge him this desire. We feel ya, TayMart. Now, go on to do great things (even if its not on a gridiron).

Who was that QB flinging the hail mary against NW? Guy looked like an undersized OL lifted from the scrub team. Loved the spirit he showed. With or without BP, only lifelong OK fans can truly dislike Their Nebs.

Today's topic: BP - toxic company or toxic coach? Both?

Big Red quad.

FIFY....BP coaches needs to be plural. could be Bo, or Bobby Petrino :-)

Hate to hear of a career derailed by injury, best wishes to the young man.

If it's Bo, better hold off on his evaluation. He seems to manage to pull off enough wins in November to stay in the race. Case in point, his last two victories were 4th qtr comebacks, just like several last year. He can't be a toxic coach, his kids don't quit.

Now Bobby, on the other hand, has Tennessee written all over him. ;-)

Sorry to hear that Martinez's career is ending this way. Best of luck to you, young man.

That would add a little pizzazz to the Magnolia State's recruiting battles, wouln't it?

I am not totally against this idea. He is a heck of a coach and very good recruiter...Mullen has boosted the team up to winning regularly (tho this season is somewhat of a bust) and BP could take them to the next level...

Taylor had a great career, holds several records at NU now but somewhere between his Soph. and Jr. year, he quit playing instinctively and started overthinking everything and became less and less effective, I blame a lot on social media and how his mechanics were criticized and how he tried so hard to please everyone it ended up hurting his career in the end, but it was a great run, wishing you much success and health in the future T-Mart...
