Lamont Jones, who verbally committed to Louisville when he was a sophomore at Rice High in Harlem last year, announced yesterday that he was re-opening his recruitment. "He never went through the whole process," said Tony Bergeron, who now coaches the 6-foot junior at American Christian Academy outside of Philadelphia, where Jones transferred in August. The move does not come as a great surprise, since the guard considered making the same decision last summer.

SO basically this is not news. Cool!

February 19, 2008  09:24 AM ET

Lamont...YOU BIG DUMMIE!!!!!!!

February 19, 2008  10:34 AM ET

Villanova must be the choice. Just a guess on my part.

February 19, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Other than Pitino...what does Louisville have going for it anyway?

February 19, 2008  11:42 AM ET

Too bad for him...maybe can look at some school's like Seton Hall, Villanova, etc who are lucky to put 8k in an arena

Obviously, you know next to nothing about college basketball. Historically, the Cardinals have been very competitive and at one time was one of the top-ten programs in the nation. Currently, Louisville sits atop the Big East conference in a first-place tie with Georgetown. FYI,aformer Cardinals Darrell "Dr. Dunkenstein" Griffith and Pervis "Never Nervous" Ellison have won most oustanding player awards in past Final Four's.

Oh, I forgot to remind you. Louisville's the best school in KENTUCKY for hoops.

February 19, 2008  04:55 PM ET

Louisville can'w win a title man

February 19, 2008  04:57 PM ET

Louisville is far from the Best b-ball school in KY. The wildcats tradition speaks for itself. Louisville has nothing but Thugs playing for them, always has. Pitino has the biggest head in college sports. He is washed up, and hopefully for Cardinal "fans" he will retire soon

Like the late, great, Al McGuire said, "I don't recruit kids that have front lawns in front of their homes..."
ukkittens, sorry Charlie. This season's over. Be sure to tune in to the conference tourney. That will probably be the last time you get to see your felines play.Unless something monumental happens, UK's season will end. Then again, you could secure a NIT berth. That would be so sweet, Louisville in the Big Dance and y'all at a house party. Don't hate, do appreciate. I know you loved Rick while he was in Lexington. Remember, he left KY for the NBA. The hospitality you FOLKS showed him & the family while he was in the Bluegrass State, kept him from going anywhere else. It's all good, I mean, he won a 'ship for y'all and all those Final Fours. Where's your appreciation? Don't worry, Billy G will get y'all back to winning. To be second-best is not something to be ashamed of. LOL!!!

Louisville has nothing but Thugs playing for them, always has...
ukcats1476 | 02/19/08, 04:57 PM

Are you implying that Rick recruited differently during his tenure at KY?
I DON'T THINK SO!...

February 19, 2008  06:20 PM ET

(Louisville has nothing but Thugs playing for them)

It's not like you know the players well enough to determine if they are thugs or not...This has to be one of the most ignorant statements i have ever heard. Obviously you are to incompitent to know anything about louisville or college basketball. This is just a sorry excuse to explain why Louisville kicked UK's @$$

For the next 3-4 years, Louisville and Georgetown will be the class of the Big East...

February 19, 2008  11:02 PM ET

Thats why i think is b/s the NCAA isn't involved more stopping colleges from getting commits 2 or 3 years to soon it should be limited only to Seniors and thats it

February 20, 2008  12:16 PM ET

what does Louisville have going for it? how many schools can claim to have had top 10 finishes in multiple sports: basketball, football, baseball, and track. i believe that the ville has seen top 20 finishes in alot of our women's sports.

If you speak about what louisville has to offer culturally compared to cites such as new york, phili, or DC...then that's something entirely different. Affordability, great neighborhoods and parks, mild weather, geographical access to most regions - florida, chicago, and the east coast...not to mention a sports history steeped in horse racing and boxing.

February 20, 2008  12:27 PM ET

well...i guess if youre from KY that might seem ok...but us folks from NC have more than 2 teams that can actually play...so best of luck with your 2 horses...

February 20, 2008  12:41 PM ET

Really...you honestly think that UNC or DUKE can play this year outside of the ACC? I recall that Duke lost to a Big East mid-pack horse called PITT? Granted...you have a talented crop of forwards and guards...no big man, no deep run in the tourney for the Blue Devils. UNC is always beatable and injured...are they not? I would put WESTERN KENTUCKY up against NC STATE and WAKE on any night. The ACC is pretty weak outside of your top two. I know that collegiate soccer is big there...I give you that.

February 20, 2008  01:10 PM ET

i guess it's not only blue"grass" that they are on up in KY

February 20, 2008  04:58 PM ET

Oh yeah...and I'd put App State up against any big East football team...
HA! just giving ya a hard time :-)
