Age finally catching up to Duncan

07:18 AM ET 11.14 | These days, Tim Duncan is six feet and 11 inches of frustration. Duncan's recent shooting woes hit a new bottom [Wednesday] as he tied a career-low with two points on a career-worst 1-for-12 shooting. He tried everything -- mid-range jumpers, short hooks off glass, even the trusty old Four Down post-up that was his offensive staple for so many years. Yet aside for an eight-foot bank shot late in the first quarter, nothing worked. Duncan's frustration was evident as he barked at Tony Parker to hurry up on the aforementioned Four Down play. ... [There is] the necessary caveat that it's still ridiculously early. Given his mileage, however, it's fair to wonder if this might be the season that Duncan, five months from 38, after more greatness than anyone could reasonably expect, finally starts to show his age.

It's always sad to see greats get old and overstay their welcome. Hopefully Timmy (37), KG (37), Kobe (35 & injured) and other aging players call it a career instead of being dragged to the glue factory....

It was very sad seeing Shaq in his final season...

I can't disagree with you on this one. Although I can't stand the NBA because of it's constant stupidity, it's hard to watch the greats not realize when they're no longer great.

Too early in the season and it's only one game. He won't have many nights like this. Pops will mange his minutes...

I agree - Way too early in the season to start putting him out to the glue factory!

Exactly. Even young players have bad shooting nights. The Spurs will quietly be a top team out West once again this season.
