07:25 AM ET 11.14 | Congratulations are in order for Art Briles, who has somewhat improbably built Baylor into a BCS contender. [He has also] played a major role in the school's new football stadium, which is taking shape alongside the Brazos River. Baylor made sure that Briles would be continuing his success in the $260 million structure when it opens next season. On Wednesday, the school's board of regents approved a 10-year contract extension for Briles that will run through the 2023 season. The new deal begins next season and will pay Briles more than $4 million to start. That would place him among the 10 highest-paid coaches nationally, according to an industry source. Briles has Baylor fifth in the BCS rankings. The Bears are 8-0 for the first time in school history and have scored at least 69 points in five games.

But the question is, "Can BB carry that speed all the way to GR's Ice Haus"?

Pretty good for a guy from Rule, TX. Good for Art.

Why is there still no Big-12 conference title game?

The Big 12 -2 only has 10 teams so no divisions/CCG is allowed. They play a true 9 game round robin conference schedule.

On the plus side it does away with scheduling inequities but the negative is no CCG at a critical time of the year.

If Texas and Baylor both win out (which I doubt will happen), it would be a de facto CCG in Waco the first weekend in December.

These are heady times for the Baylor football program.

Oh yes thats it. I was thinking WVU and TCU made up enough teams to make it possible.

I Still say the Big-12 should go after Boise st and BYU or maybe Utah st if the Mormons still refuse to play ball on the Sabbath.

Always scuttlebutt about such. But they all appear to be fine with only dividing the money by 10 instead of 12, 14, 16...unless someone can bring a buttload of TV sets to the table. Least that is what my rusty cow, land thief, red fader, froggie friends tell me around here. Don't have any connections to the Kansas, Iowa or WVa crew.

Anyhow, CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT SUCKS.

Probably will be if both win out. Both could easily lose one though.

Three weeks ago the game at Jerry's world this Saturday was looking good. Now, not so much. Heard Tech lost two more on defense. Their inability to build depth is definitely showing up. Always been a problem for them.

Yep, last year had the highest payouts per team of any conf, which is pretty much all a conference is supposed to do now - generate money

yeah, would you rather watch FSU and Duke play in the ACC champ game?

Give TT another year or two. They got the guy to build something there

Supposedly, he's "connecting" with a lot of recruits that Tech had no chance at previously. Don't know if that is scuttlebutt or true but that's the buzz around the flat country.

Will KK stay at TTU once Sumlin leaves??

I think so. He's a Leach disciple. And there are a couple of Red Fader big money guys that can fund his salary all by themselves if need be. Not a lot of 'em like the rusty cow or aggie crew, but very, very, very well off none the less.

Besides, at places like Tech, Baylor, TCU you don't have to put up with some of the crap you do at the other two.

The biggest negative is you live in Lubbock...but, they have an airport and he travels a lot.

a couple of close friends in SL are TT guys, they are real happy.

He's getting looks at players in the prime grounds of SLC, Cville, Keller, HEB
