Asik wants out

07:29 AM ET 11.15 | Houston, we have a problem. With his starting job gone and his playing time slashed, Rockets center Omer Asik has asked to be traded, two individuals with knowledge of the request said Thursday. Asik, who started every game after signing with the Rockets last season, came off the bench Wednesday in Philadelphia, but struggled. He played only four minutes and not at all in the second half. Asik has made his trade request within the past 48 hours, a person familiar with the conversations said. The Rockets have no trade involving Asik in the works, with one individual saying a deal is more likely in months than in days. Asik declined comment, referring questions to his agent, Andy Miller. Miller also would not comment on any trade request. "I would say the situation is very frustrating right now."

Just trade him to NO for Ryan Anderson. Then Davis can slide back to the 4 where he is more comfortable. Anderson and Howard always played relatively well together. Have to add some additional pieces but seems like a deal where both teams win.

"Asik, who started every game after signing with the Rockets last season"...

Started every game but missed the playoffs. Dude, sit back and enjoy a ride into the postseason. I doubt it but you might get a ring out of it...

Well.....it's not like you couldn't see this coming......

Pelicans won't trade Anderson.

Very true!

As it stands......the Rockets start both Howard and Asik.....but within five minutes, they sit Acik and he mostly backs Howard up for the rest of the game.

They signed this guy as a restricted FA from the Bulls for starter's money. For what his role is right now......they are better off trading him for a Ryan Anderson 'type'.....a straight-up trade would be good and fair for both teams.

Someone proposed a ludicrous trade involving the Rockets and Lakers. Asik and Lin for Kaman and Bryant. I won't mention any names but I think it's pretty obvious that this person is wasted.

It's to the Rocket's advantage to move him as well, with his sub-prime contract and limited minutes.

ACB is a complete idiot.

I'm inclined to agree.....but they should.

Asik will give them two things Anderson won't give them:

1. Interior defense, and :

2. Double figure rebounding.

Kobe has a no-trade clause. And he's not KG, he's not waiving it.

Already declined by the Pelicans last offseason when Houston was assembling the best team ever...

At least not for Asik. The Pelicans, weird name, like to run and Asik would not fit in.

Houston averages 107ppg, NO averages 97.

The Rockets run more.

But, the Pelicans aren't interested in Asik when they have Davis and Smith.

November 15, 2013  09:17 AM ET

NO needs to deal Gordon or Evans. Evans isn't playing well off the bench.

Both good answers but Davis does give them help out defense and rebounding also while Anderson stretches out the floor. Anderson would be perfect for Houston but I think the Pelicans won't be trading to help out a division opponent.

Maybe the quality of the players have something to do with that?
