07:32 AM ET 11.15 | Barely three months ago, it was reported that Jerry Dipoto and Mike Scioscia were lodged on opposite sides of a philosophical divide that had grown deep. [So deep] that senior Angels management expected to replace one or both. The same sources said Moreno had not made a final determination. ... Since then, two important things happened. 1.) The Angels played better and rose to third in the American League West. Beginning with the weekend the story ran, they won 23 of their final 36 games -- the fourth-best record in the AL during that span. The .639 winning percentage was a marked improvement over the .437 that preceded it (55-71). 2.) Dipoto and Scioscia started talking more frequently and substantively -- something sources said had not happened as often in the preceding weeks.

Dipoto is a committed Neoplatonist and Scioscia favors Hegelianism.

I think both are on thin ice for the 14 season and will be fired if the Halos don't make the playoffs.

In that scenario, Scioscia gets a new job well before DiPoto.

I hope during the talks DiPoto promised Scioscia more pitching, or else the silent treatment will return.

Ricky Nolasco can be had.

I see them both caught up in Leibniz's monadology. Or is that MOANadology?

Did Scioscia bury it in Dipoto's forehead? Problem solved.

by burying the hatchet, that's not enough guarantee their will finish their 2014 season with their current team, sciocia needs to win pennants, dipoto needs to build stronger farm system, plus his albastros contracts on pujols ,hamilton, will need to proved otherswise, and the way things ended in 2013 season things aren't looking too brilliant though

dipoto most improve the angels rotation, should they trade for david price? if that's what its going to take so beat it,trumbo/konger, for d price,,kendrick and AYBAR should bring in another quality pitching arm,,,

November 15, 2013  06:18 PM ET

Blatton and two young relievers should bring in another tough pitcher but nothing its guarantee,,,

November 15, 2013  06:23 PM ET

jerome williams/jason vargas/ and hanson/shouldn't return for the angels 2014 season,
best thing to do,,,,search for better luck in other different teams, there has to be some good young pitchers WHO could pull out from the basement these pesky halos,,should things fall apart by mid-season?sciocia and all of his coaches could be facing the exit door,,,,,

both guys aren't sitting in good spot, lets not forget halos are last in their farm system
regarding quality players,on top of that the team has too many albastros contracts,
things are even worse than back in the 2011 season...

nolasco could finished dipoto/sciocia hopes in the 2014 season, remember blatton,vargas/hanson and the closer from the phillies? none of those pitchers workout for the angels, and why would people still thinking nolasco should be the answer??doubtfull

November 15, 2013  06:34 PM ET

the angels organization should rebuilt their farm system, perhaps in two or three years more the team would be able to compete by then,,,by signing free agents has not been to wise and every trade the team has done in the past has not work at all as well...

November 15, 2013  06:37 PM ET

the Angels biggest asset is Mike Scioscia. I wonder if the Dodgers would trade Kemp for Scioscia?

November 15, 2013  06:38 PM ET

the team should fix their catching problems, eannetta its worse than any other catcher plus he doesn't have the capability behind the plate when calling the games,,,if not why the starters had have higher ERA in the last two years?should halos try to sign hannigan from the reds??

the dodgers may not have to wait too long, knowing the halos situation within the thin farm system plus catching and pitching has been the biggest disappointments in anaheim,,,,,

thin ice? i thing both are more than just in simple thin ice,the team don't have quality pitchers exept weaver and cj wilson, after that nothing, and the catcher its just as bad, where can the halos could be creative?good pitching starts with good experienced catcher,no good catching?the results higher ERA
and alot of homeruns given by the halos starters,,,

silent treatment?i think there would be a point of no return for either or both GM/manager,,
remember there is so much the owner can tolerate,,,and the time its running out!
