Injury scare for Clemson's Boyd

07:38 AM ET 11.15 | Congratulations -- and perhaps a Get Well Soon card -- are in order for Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd. [Boyd] was injured on the final play of the third quarter and headed to the locker room in the eighth-ranked Tigers' game with Georgia Tech on Thursday night. After scrambling for 7 yards as the quarter wound down, Boyd remained on the turf after falling hard on his left shoulder. Boyd got up on his own power and trotted to the sideline. Moments later, though, he walked to the locker room at Death Valley. Boyd eventually returned to the sidelines. ... But the Tigers, who were up 24 at the time, did not put him back in the game. Cole Stoudt replaced him at quarterback. Boyd told ESPN's Joe Schad that he has a bruised sternum and collarbone, but not a broken bone. "I'll be fine," the senior quarterback said.

Nothing too serious, good.

Go Sparty.

Up next for Clemson is in-state FCS Citadel. Boyd can sit that one out. Stoudt can use the game snaps and exposure. Boyd can then recover in time for the season ending visit to the Capons. That's going to be one tough game.

UF is likely on the 3rd string QB for USCe. Murphy might be out for the year.

Until game time, you can boost your mood by recalling how UK ended their 25 game losing streak against the (Dooley's) Vols with a WR (former HS QB) behind center and a minimal offensive playbook.

I see Dooley changing defensive schemes/ coordinator and how horrible that went as a cautionary tale to Muschamp changing OCs.

I am OK with starting Mornhinweg.

Murphy trying to go with a bum shoulder, even if "he feels good", just isn't gonna work -- see last week's outcome. Cut the playbook way down, spoonfeed the kid some relatively easy pass plays and give him a shot.

Dooley lost at least 6 coaches each year of his tenure, including OC & DC. His inability to retain a coaching staff was most indicative of his inability to lead the program. Indeed, hiring Dooley is the suppurating sore of Hamilton's disastrous term as UTK AD.

I can't believe I missed this game last night.
I was busy running cable in the attic and out to my workshop so I could watch football in more places.
DOH!

Sadly, Clemson's receivers had too much speed for GT's defenders. It was toss, catch, score... toss, catch, score... toss, catch, score. The Jackets fell 20 pts behind, early. Clemson's D had a plan for GT's running game and shut them down in the 1st qtr. Though GT did adapt and scored 31 on Clemson, they just couldn't slow or stop Clemson's O, yielding 55. It wasn't a pretty game to anyone other than Clemson fans.

Supposedly Steeler scouts were at that game to watch Boyd play.
