Detroit Tigers targeting Brian Wilson?

12:25 PM ET 11.16 | Coming off three consecutive appearances in the American League Championship Series, the Detroit Tigers don't exactly have a lot of needs, but one area of the team that needs an overhaul is their closer spot. The Tigers were so desperate for a fireman at one point during the 2013 season, they went back to embattled arm Jose Valverde, who they moved on from after the 2012. That of course, as expected, didn't work out which lead to the Tigers mixing and matching until finally settling on Joaquin Benoit, who finished out the year as Detroit's closer and did a fine job in the role. However, Detroit seems to be looking for an experienced closer, so they can move Benoit back to his setup role and former San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson is atop their wish list.

Ordinarily, I'd say picking up a guy coming back from his second Tommy John would be a risk. However, after seeing how putrid Detroit's bullpen was in the ALCS, it's not really much of a risk at all.

I don't think picking up a FA closer post Tommy John is as much of a risk as picking up a starter would be.

In fairness to the guy, he is even uglier to look at without the beard so I cut him some slack.
