08:29 PM ET 11.17 | The USC Trojans beat the No. 4 Stanford Cardinals on Saturday night. With that win, interim head coach Ed Orgeron may have earned the vacant head coaching job with the Trojans. The Trojans are on a four-game winning streak, they've won five of the last six, and they have a respectable 8-3 record. However, Orgeron won't take credit for the turnaround. Instead, he gave that to his players in an incredibly classy move.

Tell em to pass the hat. Pat wants to pick his own boy.

I think Pat should keep him provided Sumlin turns down the job.

USC has, red shirt freshman, Max Browne in the bullpen coming out next season. He's all world, plus David Sills is on the way. All of course Lane Kiffin's recruits. CEO can be the head coach as long as Nick Saban and Barry Switzer are his junior assistants. Otherwise they need to lure Jim Tressel just to stick it to the NCAA one more time.

This really puts Haden in a tough position. Let's see how it plays out...

Let Eddie O stay as head coach but make him hire two good co-ordinators. Eddie can recruit, But is dumb. Surround Eddie with football brains.

He already has one legit coordinator with Pendergrast. The jury is still out on Helton, but he hasn't done to badly. As long as we stick it to the buffs and play the ruins tough (or of course beat them), it's going to be risky for Pat to hire anyone but Coach O. We have other teams commitments taking a long look at us, and some big time kids who we had no chance at, we are no firmly in the mix. The kids that are here, want to play for Coach O and bust their tails for him. Isn't that what every coach in America wishes they had???

If Lane could have coached up "his recruits", then we wouldn't have had to deal with any of this. Luckily, he couldn't, but Coach O can.

If he wins out it would be tough to deny him.

No it wouldn't

I agree. His coaching results as HC at Ole Miss were legendary - and not in a good way.

Don't get me wrong, the guy also has legendary recruiting skills, but as HC? Not the best situation for his attributes.

I said this will be a problem when LK was fired if SC won out

Eddie did the impossible, who would have thunk? Pat, this is your guy, don't let him slip by.

I think Sumlin is overrated. He got lucky and rode the Manziel Train...lets see how he does after Manziel is gone..

I thought he was coaching in 2011 when SC went 10-2, should've been 11-1 if not for the refs ripping them off, again, against Stanford.

You sir, are a prophet.

QUOTE(#18):

If Eddie O could pass an IQ test then maybe he could be considered for the USC head job. You have to face the facts that Eddie is not a bright man. Picture Ed O with a lion skin pelt and a club standing in front of a cave waiting for a dinosaur ride.

Seriously, isn't Les Miles' IQ a couple points lower than the kid that played Corky on LIFE GOES ON? He's one of the best football coaches in college football, but he can't pronounce Arkansas and doesn't understand his own nickname-- "The mad hatter". "I'm not mad about anything".
