QB controversy in Oakland?

07:24 AM ET 11.18 | Again, the Raiders are courting a quarterback quandary. Matt McGloin's performance in the Oakland Raiders' 28-23 victory over the Houston Texans and their previously top-ranked defense, along with Terrelle Pryor's recent regression and right knee injury, would suggest so. And coach Dennis Allen would not commit, at least not publicly, to a starter for next week's home game against the Tennessee Titans. "Here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to enjoy this win," Allen said. "We're going to go back and we'll evaluate. But (McGloin) definitely did a very good job today." McGloin was 18 of 32 for 197 yards passing and three touchdowns for a 105.9 passer rating. Pryor has thrown eight interceptions since his last TD and tried to play through the pain of what he called a sprained MCL last week.

Pryor is not the future of Oakland, or anywhere in the NFL. And if I was McGloin I wouldn't hang my resume on beating up an opponent who is seemingly incapable of success on defense this year.

Neither of those two is the future in Oakland. Seems it only takes one game anymore to assure some serious coin for several years(see Matt Flynn).

If I'm a Raiders coach, I'm going to see at least a few more games before I'm even remembering his name

November 18, 2013  08:28 AM ET

If anything, he's shown he's a capable backup. Let's hold off building the McGloin Wing in Canton just yet.

Something that allows them to work 8.5 hours per day, including weekends, which apparently is a "few hours". Probably paid in Surinamese Dollars

Yup... way too soon to be breaking out the anointing oil - especially against a Houston team that can't get out of it's own way.

Oakland's next two games - home against TENN and @ DAL on Thanksgiving.

Let's wait and see...

Usually when your first name is Matt things don't pan out too well.... Flynn, Barkley, Schaub Lienart for starters..

Matt Flynn had a good day once too.

Props to his agent for milking it for everything it was worth.

Agree with you totally Otis, but it was nice to see the kid from Scranton come in and perform the way he did. He was a walk on at Penn State and I watched struggle under Joe, but flourish under Bill O'Brien. I'm wishing him nothing but the best.

November 18, 2013  09:01 AM ET

And soon the headline will read " Raiders pull McGloin "
