Time to disassemble in Toronto?

07:25 AM ET 11.18 | Though Toronto's season is merely 11 games old, it's getting late early, as the saying goes. Should the team disassemble its core and try to get a high draft pick, or should it make a push for its first playoff trip in six years. However, a second question could emerge, now that several Eastern Conference teams, the Raptors included, are off to middling starts. That question would be: Is a playoff spot in this conference really a worthwhile goal? Following the Raptors' 118-110 overtime loss to Portland on Sunday, only four teams in the East are better than .500, with another one right on the mark. Of the six teams expected to battle for the last few playoff spots in the conference, only Atlanta is off to a decent start.

This team has been so bad for so long... who really cares anymore. the biggest signings they make are front office.... the play of the team remains mediocre and they keep saying when this guy develops.. then ....
sorry..they never get beyond ... average... this is the warm milk of the NBA.. watching them puts you to sleep.

Honestly, if Vince Carter & Chris Bosh were never Raptors, would we even know they existed?

Who wants what they have and willing to deal? Nuggets maybe? There are too many teams content with what they have and will tank rather than take on a Rudy contract. There is some bad teams in the east and they have a shot to make the playoffs

Nows the time to trade Rudy Gay. He's playing really at the moment so no better time then now to move the kid.

rudy is getting paid a lot- but he does play and is averaging 20 & 7thats pretty damn nice for a SF

For a team like Toronto, they will never amass the stars needed to win a championship so if they've worked hard to build a team that will make the playoffs 2 - 3 years, it's worth keeping.

Rudy can score but he doesn't do it efficiently at all. 20PPG 7.6 Reb 1.6ass 3.1 TO's shooting 38%FG. That is nothing to brag about. I said this numerous times but Rudy is not an efficient player. He has bad I mean bad shot selection and if his shot is off he is not going to put you over the top doing much else. He is an athlethic version of Melo but worse, inefficient Melo is not that great. He is getting paid based off how he was expected to grow to that elite level top 5 at his position. He just hasn't reached where many thought he would be. Who would trade for him not many teams.

Maybe he would have a higher FG% on a better team?

He takes way too many jump shots difficult shots. It is not the team it is his style of play. He should be getting to the basket for more FT's. He is off to a slower start but maybe he improves a little bit but this has been his style for years now. 20 FGA's to get 20PPG is not good but maybe he will pick up. If he can change his game to get to the line he would be much more effective. He should be around 24-26 PPG with the amount of attempts he takes and if he was slightly more efficient.

Trade Gay and DeRozan. These guys are jump-shot happy and soft on defence. They need to play Terence Ross a bunch and see what they have. Big V is legit. They absolutely need a top-5 pick in this deep draft to build a nucleus worth anything.

Rudy Gay is a power forward, playing at small forward. Jamir Johnson is a small forward, playing at power forward. Just this basic change could help the Raptors get more rebounds, help Vanancunas with an inside game and free up more playing time for Ross and Fields at small forward. I don't find the Raptors boring, just one dimensional. Then again that goes for the rest of the pick and roll league or nba. Their must be 30 different offences and defences in the the clasic nba book, they should try a few. The Raptors lack rebounding, a point guard that can dribble and drive and quality depth at center and point, but the core personel is not that bad. If they make the above switch and trade for a back up center and perhaps a vet point who can dribble and drive to go behind Lowry, i see them making the playoffs. P.S. find a power center offence that you can use, once in a while to get Valancunas some action.
