07:28 AM ET 11.18 | It's not often that New York and Boston find common trade ground, though something could happen with a few big names. The New York Knicks continue to dangle Iman Shumpert in trade talks, including a recent proposal to the Celtics that would send the third-year guard and Amar'e Stoudemire to Boston in an effort to obtain star point guard Rajon Rondo, league sources confirmed Sunday. The Celtics, though, have yet to show interest in the deal, instead preferring to unload forward Gerald Wallace in a trade, sources said. The Knicks have inquired about Rondo in trade talks before, but both times the Celtics made it clear they were not interested in trading him. ... Sources did say the Celtics would be willing to take on Stoudemire's contract if they could unload some of their longer deals.

Only the knicks would be bold enough to suggest such an outrageous deal. Amare-Shumop for Rajon? Are you kidding me???

Nobody is taking Amare's rotting carcass off the Knicks hands without them eating several horrific contracts in return.Ainge should demand they take Wallace, Humphries and Courtney Lee....if it would work salary wise.If Rondo isn't part of the trade, there is no reason for the Knicks to mortgage their future cap space.

If Felton was doing what he's supposed to do this will be a moot point. Step up your game Felton! Make us forget about this rubbish!

Wow you know the division is bad when they are proposing inter-division trades. Boston trades with Nets so they might as well flip it even further and trade with the Knicks as well. Boston makes this move to initiate full tank mode and start completely over in the draft. Knicks traded with the Raptors, the Atlantic division is a new pawn shop.

Crazy, panic times in the big apple.......The only issue with moving amare for your Wallace and the other longer Boston contracts.....is they'd STILL be over the cap next year and couldn't make any big moves. As crazy as it sounds.....they may be better off keeping him(Obviously if rondo isn't involved. If they make rondo available sure)

Have to take the bad to get the good. Rondo is probably as good as a FA you guys could get either way. That should also keep Melo in NYC.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

November 18, 2013  09:10 AM ET

so it basically would be Rondo & Wallace for Amare & Felton and a pick?

November 18, 2013  09:20 AM ET

Never happen. Ainge would have to be out of his mind. In the meantime, this has to do wonders for Felton's confidence.

*or Rondo,Wallace,Lee for Stat,Felton & Shump....

Do You Bleed Green, Bro?

It is not a bad move if your intent is to tank and remove long term cap. Anytime you take on Amare you have officially hit tank mode IMO. Rondo is a good player but doesn't seem to get along with teammates and coaching all the time. PG is the easiest position to fill in the NBA. With Rondo and Green where are the Celtics going? 7-8 seed depending on when he comes back and that is high more likely still not making the playoffs.

No......that is what i meant....Give up anything to get rondoBut if the deal is just to get rid of amare WITHOUT rondo....That's not smart

Yeah I read it again they make it seem like Rondo is part of the deal but he really isn't as the Celtics are not willing to offer him up, just yet. It is basically Celtics want to get rid of Wallace and maybe Lee for Amare+ Shumpert. The Knicks want Rondo and Celtics are not dealing Rondo as part of that package. All this means is they need another team to get involved with moveable pieces Houston is probably the first. Otherwise probably no deal.

Damn, who wants Stat? Dude is expensive, uninsured, injure prone and not very smart. NY will swallow that $100m deal all the way. smh

They might take him on so they could by him out, I don't think the C's used their amnesty clause yet either so that may also be their plan. Free up even more CAP space and add to their luxury of picks. The fact that Rondo won't be ready till December baring any set backs this may be huge for the C's if a pick is involved, especially if the Knicks fall to the bottom of the playoff picture and maybe even miss the playoffs (which I doubt happens).
