Threat of more severe injury looms over Rodgers

07:21 AM ET 11.19 | Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has to keep his eye on the reality. [Rodgers] won't rule himself out of any game, including this week against the Minnesota Vikings, but he knows what the risks are if he comes back too early. Appearing on "Packers Live with Larry McCarren" Monday night, Rodgers said he feels good and is eager to get back on the field but knows he must take into account the big picture when it comes to returning from a broken collarbone he suffered against the Chicago Bears Nov. 4. Rodgers has a crack in his left collarbone and if that crack is not healed to the point that he has full range of motion in his shoulder and no pain when the fracture point is pressed upon, then another hit like the one he took from end Shea McClellin could break the collarbone in half.

While the Pack needs AR if they are going to have any chance of making the payoffs, I'm afraid their defense is NOT playoff caliber. I don't know if it's injuries, Dom Capers, or both. I would not rush AR to get back on the field.

If the doctors have a say in it doesn't sound like they would be willing to sign off on an early return.

I would make sure he was ready before allowing him back on the field.

I'm thinking the Pittsburgh game would be a good time frame.

He's not Brett yo.

and seeing him on an interview the other day, I'm sure he doesn't want to be.

Cam had a good game last night. That was a nice fourth quarter drive...

It's only going to set the Pack back if he comes back too soon. Not worth making an existing injury worse.

Which is why I recommend him returning around Week 16.

I love how Brady wouldn't shake hands.

May be a little pill abuse there.

Hey, Flynn is back. He played a good game once. Everything is A-ok.

Julius Peppers usually pops Aaron Rodgers one or two hard hits per game.

They'd be crazy to Rodgers on the field.

If Mike Shanahan were the coach, Rodgers would have been back on the field this past week.

Don't fear Packer fans the Vikings are coming to town this weekend and they can win with their third string of emergency QB.

November 19, 2013  09:13 AM ET

Is an easy call. You signed him in April to a 7 year $130 million contract. You guaranteed $54 million of that. You ain't a goin' nowhere this year with him or without him, but you could damage him for those future years if he gets railed again right now.

Take a seat Aaron.

Since Rodgers has been playing the one major problem is the number times he is sacked or takes a hit each season. This is the most important player on the team and Green Bay treats him like a tackling dummy. There will be a point in the season soon when Green Bay may have to come to the conclusion that their window for the playoffs has closed and think about how they are going to protect him better.

Green Bay should have made Atlanta an offer for Gonzalez before the trade deadline and Rodgers would be a healthy man today.

The Redskins didn't get that memo. Lol!

Maybe they could move up in the draft and get him some OL protection and a better TE.

If a player can win MVP while injured, it's AR. No one in the league means more to their team than AR. Even Denver won a playoff game with Tebow and the Hatriots won 11 with Cassel.

Somebody needs to save Aaron Rodgers from himself and keep him off the field till he's fully healed. They are paying him way too much to risk having him come back early.
