LSU QB's future uncertain

LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux's troubled career hit another sour note Monday, as Coach Les Miles announced he had indefinitely suspended the Tigers' expected starter this season for a violation of team rules. It was the third such disciplinary measure imposed on Perrilloux since last May. Sources at the university familiar with the situation said Perrilloux's infractions involved missing classes, workouts and at least one team meeting, all violations of a private agreement Miles and Perrilloux reportedly reached last season. Perrilloux's situation could be even more dire, according to school officials who said Miles still is mulling the situation. Miles was unavailable for comment, but said in LSU's terse, four-sentence statement that the quarterback's status for spring football, which begins Feb. 29, is uncertain.

This guy seems like a lot of trouble. I hope he gets it together because I'm not sure how many chances Miles will give him.

I believe Les Miles will keep this kid on the team until he can find another QB. I laughed when the kid bailed out on Texas, but they are better off without him as he ceertainly does not feel rules apply to him.

Many coaches would have dumped the kid after the casino incident last year and Miles kept him.

February 19, 2008  09:00 AM ET

I say he stays unless they have a solid alternative.

February 19, 2008  09:08 AM ET

I would think Miles helps him see the light. With Appalachian State as their first game, LSU needs their most senior QB in place.

February 19, 2008  09:24 AM ET

Doesn't he know he plays in the SEC? There should be no problems.

Will the defendant please rise!

If this kid was at Florida State, everyone would be complaining about Bobby Bowden having lost control of the program and calling for us to get the death penalty. I'm sure Les Miles will get the same treatment here, right? Yeah, right.

It's not his first time getting into trouble at LSU, just cut the kid and be done with it.

Mr. Pryor we have an opening at LSU; so foget MU, PSU and OU. Where is Matt Flyn, I know he was a senior last year, but is he attending the NFL combines? I have heard nothing about him in NFL news

February 19, 2008  10:22 AM ET

This kid sucks just like the rest of LSU and the idiot cajum imbreds down there

February 19, 2008  10:27 AM ET

LSU picked up a 4-star QB recruit last year, Jarrett Lee... time for Les Miles to make a statement to his team and bench Perrilloux for the start of the season

February 19, 2008  10:33 AM ET

Les needs to tell this kid to kick rocks. It's clear that he's not getting it and it's time to have football taken away from him.

February 19, 2008  10:43 AM ET

It makes my day when I read about how this guy had another run in with the law. I was so pissed when he de-committed from Texas and went to lsu, but every time this guy does something stupid Texas fans rejoice.

HOOK 'EM

yep LSU sucks, National Champs, you hit the nail on the head with statement, they are horrible I mean with all the draft picks and all americans and SEC wins and championships, you got it they suck!

And idiot, cajun inbreds, really??? you can do better than that, have some pride or do fannation a favor and go play in traffic!

February 19, 2008  10:54 AM ET

Yes the bitter Big 10/PAC 10 crowds are out in force. I for one hope Perriloux never puts on an LSU uniform again. He has disgraced himself, his family, LSU, and Louisiana. Yes, his birth father died, but they had no contact for almost his entire life. I am glad to see Miles have the cojones to boot a projected starter in the ass. More coaches should have the stones to do that. We saw last year several examples of coaches babying players to get them into crucial/bowl games. If he skipped class and was warned and told of the consequences, then hammer him. He is still a STUDENT-athlete, not that the NCAA and a ton of schools have not forgotten about that long ago. We still have two good QBs on the roster. We have had our best seasons with QBs who were better leaders than athletes. Mauck and Flynn were not Heisman canidates, yet the TEAM was better under them than under a me first Jamarcus Russell. Jarrett Lee was a top rated QB coming out of TX a couple of years ago, but was redshirted last year. Put him in against the Tiger D in the spring and he will get the work he needs to prepare for the season. In any case GEAUX TIGERS!!!

You need to get your act together Ryan. You should be thankful for this opportunity.

February 19, 2008  11:31 AM ET

Wide-known speculation indicates that Les will have this guy back by the start of the season. I hope not (that would make Les look like a coward), but Les might not take a chance of losing to App. State because his proposed starting QB has off-the-field problems.

February 19, 2008  11:33 AM ET

I agree that he should be gone. The kid is a loser, face it. This is just one screwup. He has had numerous chances to get his act together and seems to have no desire to do so.

February 19, 2008  11:43 AM ET

One word... NFL

February 19, 2008  11:48 AM ET

UH OH, Miles will actually have to start counting on his own recruits finally...

February 19, 2008  12:04 PM ET

LOL, Biminator the athletes at LSU are there because it is LSU. Now that might be a foreign concept to you, but it does not make it any less true. How many players transferred when Saban did? ZERO! That is because thaey wanted to be LSU Tigers. If the athletes at your institution cut and run with a coaching change, maybe there is a problem with the school.
