07:22 AM ET 11.20 | Now that Dwight Howard is out of the picture, Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol are back to the matter of chasing a title together. Over the years, Bryant has often reminded people that it was the partnership between he and Gasol that took the Lakers to three straight NBA Finals from 2008-10. He's stuck up for the Spaniard publicly and privately. But it wasn't until I read the moving forward Bryant wrote in the beginning of Gasol's new book, "Life/Vida" (which will be released Nov. 26 through his personal website), that I realized the true depth of their bond. Bryant writes that "If I could choose my brother," it would be Gasol. That "he would have the highest basketball IQ in the league" and "you'd have to search and search and you still would not find another player in the history of the game with his skill set."

Jeez I thought he would pick Howard!

Players coming from Europe tend to be more fundamentally sound than American players. So the high BB IQ makes sense.

I feel sorry for Pau. Always been the scapegoat and fans don't appreciate him as much. They're always calling him out and it's worse when their god Kobe calls him out because that's when they really want him out of LA...smh

Why feel sorry for Pau? He makes 20 million a year, lives in sunny California, has a couple of NBA rings and is ubber intelligent. If you want to feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for the poor folks in the Philippines. The destruction and lose of life is heartbreaking.

Unfortunately, Pau did not reciprocate the same feelings.........

Exactly.
Pau has a lot going for him. The guy has a career in medicine after he retires and is an accomplished dude plus everything you said.
The Lakers fans appreciate him but for sure he shares a blame of criticism since his game has been deteriorating since 2010.
