'Mammoth' bonuses on the line for Pinkel

07:27 AM ET 11.20 | For Gary Pinkel, more is riding on the home stretch than wins and losses. [The next few weeks] could also be mammoth for Pinkel's bank account if the Tigers clinch the SEC Eastern Division, play for the SEC championship and possibly earn a BCS bowl invitation. Pinkel's contract, which runs through the 2017 season, pays him a guaranteed annual salary of $2.35 million. ... Pinkel has essentially clinched $240,000 worth of bonuses. Should Missouri win the national championship and Pinkel sweep the coach of the year awards, his maximum performance-based bonus will be $650,000. ... So, what's on the line Saturday? If Missouri beats Ole Miss, Pinkel's bonus for wins goes up $5,000 and the Tigers clinch at least a tie for the SEC East, good for the $25,000 bonus. Beat the Rebels in Oxford and Pinkel earns $30,000 in bonuses.

Good point, but even if they get the chance to play and lose to Bama, Gary deserves quite a bit of credit this year. He has done a great job with that program.

He's been doing a pretty good job for several years IMHO.

But, Mizzou is fortunate to be in the SEC East instead of West...just as they were in the Big 12 North instead of South.

SEC scheduling requirement. Manipulating the BCS Through OOC Scheduling section of the handbook to be exact.

That's what the other teams are doing wrong OT. The SEC has figured out the system quite well.

Sad thing is somehow the ESPN talking heads will believe it and comment on gameday that "they have no idea how they did it but somehow the SEC really does have 22 teams in the top 10. Is there anything that conference can't do."
