03:41 PM ET 11.20 | When San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks hit New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and he fumbled the ball, it looked like a pivotal, game-changing play. The play was flagged though, and it turned out to be a game changer for the New Orleans Saints instead. Brooks called the penalty B.S. and as predicted, Brees predictably disagrees.

Of course he does.

November 20, 2013  10:10 PM ET

Brees is right.

November 20, 2013  11:15 PM ET

Ok, but it sure as heck doesn't seem to warrant a fine or suspension.

November 20, 2013  11:27 PM ET

I don't see penalty or fine. Both at real-time speed and the 30,000 times I've seen it in slow motion.

Brees making this comment makes people side with Merriweather.

I expected "That was a great clean hit and DE's everywhere should take notice how to hit me" from Brees.

There's a shocker.

November 21, 2013  06:54 AM ET

As far as I'm concerned that's a 100% clean hit. There's no helmet-to-helmet contact. And I've never before heard that you can't hit the neck of the quarterback.

I'd be more accepting of the penalty if the refs mistakenly viewed it as a helmet-to-helmet hit in real time.

But the fine is just plain outrageous. There should be no fine.

Brees making this comment makes me laugh.

Considering the New Orleans Saints "bountygate" history.

November 21, 2013  07:10 AM ET

Brooks ought to know that the Ref's are gonna protect Bree's,Brady and the Mannings ,if you touch them your gonna get a flag.

November 21, 2013  08:01 AM ET

this from the same fool who said Bounty gate never happened....it was a clean hit, Brees should wear a tutu during the game.

Yep.

Pot meets kettle.

Talk about a hypocrite! This is the same guy who said that his team did nothing wrong when they illegally tried to pummel Favre out of football by seriously injuring him! All through the scandal and suspensions that followed he continued to deny any of his teammates did anything wrong. He is a pansy as well as a hypocrite if he thinks it is fine for his team to make illegal hits which were much more vicious on opposing QB???s then turn around and say this hit was illegal. If there is such a thing as Karma someone, maybe when they play Carolina, will plant this little pansy into the turf. I despise this guy!

November 21, 2013  12:01 PM ET

Hey everbody, a quarterback got hit and says there should be a penalty! That hit was fine. It especially liked the slo-mo "Stretch" Armstrong neck that Brees displayed after his eyes bugged out for half a second before he got clobbered.

November 21, 2013  12:12 PM ET

I am sure glad we analys these things objectivly and don't let our emotions or preconseved notions cloud the water

November 21, 2013  12:16 PM ET

What else would he say?!! Absurd call.....cost the opponent the game.

The league made a joke of themselves by fining Brooks! A clean hit here and a clean excellent player will now be targeted by other officials as having a history! The initial contact is perfect and somehow when Brees turtles while going down. By rule, Brooks is supposed to somehow miraculously stop his momentum altogether with no furher contact? Awful call!!

Bad scene NFL!

November 21, 2013  03:57 PM ET

The little puss has to be protected by the NFL...Wait till the playoffs and see what happens. I still believe it was a legal hit.

November 21, 2013  06:55 PM ET

OK haters, stop already! That hit was ILLEGAL according to the rules! Y'all just a bunch of whiner fans! This from a team whose coach cries every time someone touches his precious Kaperpeck! Even if he runs and doesn't slide.Well haters, keep on hatin! As Eagles 2020 said, pay attention to the game and know the rules before you run your jealous mouth. And (UN) just cause you ain't heard it,doesn't change the rules. And to the person that called Brees a puss, say it to his face! WHO DAT? Not the 40 whiners!

Even if its unintentional above the Shoulders is a NO, NO, Good Call!

November 21, 2013  09:57 PM ET

no it wasn't a penalty, plus the previous week when a jets defensive player hit him in the gut with his shoulder pads he was also flagged. again what the nfl expects is these guys to stop on dimes, football is a contact sport and again defensive players can't do anything
