The highest-paid role player in the league

07:31 AM ET 11.21 | With the exception of a dispiriting loss in Montreal on Tuesday, the Wild have been on a nice little run, so it's hard to argue with their lineup choices -- even if they're kind of in a corner with Dany Heatley. As Dany Heatley made his way back to the city where he enjoyed his greatest NHL successes, it was impossible to ignore the fact that he had become a shell of his former self. ... The only thing more dramatic than his drop in production this season is a $7.5-million cap hit that makes him arguably the highest-paid role player in the league. ... He is currently playing out the final season of a $45-million, six-year extension that he signed with the Senators back in 2008 and isn't going to have a long list of suitors when free agency arrives if this continues.

Oh, I dunno. Seems like he would be a natural Slats signing. I see him on Broadway next year

What a wonderful welcome he got last night

Or a Homer signing, unless he can skate

Thus disproving the old adage "they only boo the good ones".

"With the exception of a dispiriting loss in Montreal on Tuesday"

That was the game where the great Suter had 1 point and was -3 versus the machine led by the reigning Norris winner who was +3 with 2 points and was on ice for 4 of Montreal's 6 goals.

It was also the game where the guy this article is about scored a "huge" goal with 1.3 seconds left to make the score 6-2........

Ah, you've missed it! They said he's roll playing. I think they meant he rolls on the floor with laughter every time he gets his pay check.

Everybody knows his production is way off and has been for a few years now, what I'm wondering is why, what happened to this guy other than he got older?
