Is Jerry Jones telling the truth?

07:27 AM ET 11.22 | Tony Romo and Dez Bryant both applauded the notion of their head coach returning, something Jerry Jones said would happen. On Thursday, Jones said that Garrett will be back as the head coach in 2014. It wouldn"t be the first time Jones says one thing and eventually does another. In 2010, Jones said that former head coach Wade Phillips wouldn"t be fired during the season. "I would never consider doing that during the season," Jones said. And then Jones fired Phillips during the season. ... If Jones already has decided to commit to Garrett for next year, why not go ahead and commit to him contractually for 2015 or beyond? Jones won"t, because Jones reserves the right to change his mind if the Cowboys don"t get to the playoff -- or perhaps if they win the NFC Least and lose in the wild-card round at home.

Jones and Garrett are a match. They both are same caliber of coach as GM. Their failing grades are very comparable...

Why even come out and make such a stupid statement? Then again, JJ is trying to do something to make himself relevant since the team is not. He needs a big stamp on his head that says - FAIL!!!

Doesn't Jerry have a new "truth" every other day or so?

Absolutely ............ not.
He earned his Masters of Evading the Truth from the University of Arkansas.
<I hear that school goes all the way through the 4th grade now>

As I have said and will continue to say...

Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry could return from the dead and it wouldn't matter. Can't win with dumb players. And as long as Jerry continues to rule the roost on Draft Day, we will be saddled with dumb players and dumb player decisions that will cost us wins.

And - if you think this is bad now... wait until next season and see what this team looks like after Jerry has to clear out around $30M to get under the cap.

I'm not the president of the Jason Garrett fan club by any stretch. But - laying all of this at his feet is shortsighted.

Garrett is NOT the problem in Dallas.

The owner is.

Jerry made a rash move letting Ryan go and now the defense is in shambles.

Until Jerry fixes that D, the Cowboys are going to accomplish nothing more than being the most talked about 8-8 team over a 3 year span....

actually warms my heart a little every week when the NFL releases the stats/standings for the defenses, gotta figure that Jerry either doesn't look or causes him to grind his teeth for quite awhile when he sees the Saints top 5 standings

All true, but the owner is not going to change, the GM is not going to change, there will be no shortage of dumb players coming thru the doors on draft day so the only hope is that a coaching change somehow turns **** into gold.

And that's in less than a season. He had almost three seasons with the boys and couldn't do that. Makes you wonder... Is it his coaching skills or the luck of the draw?

Talking about Rob Ryan that is .

JJ is not a liar, but the truth as he sees it is a moving target. It can change from day to day. He believes what he says and then tomorrow he believes something else.

Why would he start now?

Telling the truth for JJ is one matter, facing the truth is a whole other matter.
