Schiano never lost the room

07:28 AM ET 11.22 | Through his team's 0-8 start, Bucs coach Greg Schiano lost his share of games -- and fans, too. [He] never lost the lockeroom, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said Wednesday. And while Tampa Bay is riding a two-game winning streak, that player support has been there the whole way, even through the MRSA outbreak and Josh Freeman saga, according to McCoy, a team captain. "I don't think our confidence (in Schiano) ever left," McCoy said. "It's always been there. People think it's more because we're winning. I've been saying it hasn't left the whole season. People are making a big deal out of, 'Oh, I guess he didn't lose the lockeroom.' He never lost the lockeroom. Now that we're winning, people are like, 'I guess he didn't.' We've been saying that since the beginning of the season."

He had a line painted on floor from his office so he could find it? Amazing hat a couple of wins will do!

And I guess that's what really matters? Is there any coach in the HoF for not losing the locker room?

November 22, 2013  07:47 AM ET

even through the MRSA outbreak

There are a lot of people in the Buccaneers organization who deserve to be blamed for the MRSA outbreak. However, I don't believe that Greg Schiano is one of them.

I'm no fan of Schiano but this Glennon kid looks like he could be the real deal.

I've never lost a room either. I've lost my keys and my mind, but never a room.

Josh Freeman looked the same way early on.

You never heard any locker room dissent the day Josh Freeman left that building. Addition by subtraction.

Statistically speaking, no comparison.

3 weeks ago, he was described as someone who didn't have the skill set to coach in the NFL.
Now the team has won 2 games. They're 2 - 8, and folks are talking like his job is secure.
Given their remaining schedule, they'll finish 4 - 12 at best.
Will he survive a 4 - 12 season?

November 22, 2013  09:33 AM ET

We've heard plenty from other players other than Freeman who can't stand the guy. It's great to see some hugging and kissing after a few wins, but the acrimony will return with the next loss.

He still has 3 yrs/$9M left on his contract. Knowing how frugal the owners are with the team I would say his job would be safe, for at least one more year.

As we've been saying since week 2... Winning fixes most everything.

They fired their last 4-12 HC, and he walked out of the building wearing a SuperBowl ring and a contract that had 3 years left on it.

Guy is still of questionable character based on his past.
