10:44 AM ET 11.23 | Rangers assistant GM Thad Levine discussed concerns about Prince Fielder's body and fitness in a Q&A: "We had a meeting with him two years ago. We got an opportunity to spend a couple hours with him. He obviously asked us a lot of questions about our plans for the future, but we also got to ask him a lot of questions, and he actually offered that information up. He spoke to us about how committed he is to trying to stay in shape, stay athletic, stay nimble, and I think it's something that he's very focused about, he's very aware of, and I think based on what we heard, we really didn't have too much doubt that he was going to do whatever it took to stay on the field. And you really don't have to look too much further than the back of his baseball card to see under the title of games, that he's averaged somewhere between 155 and 162 games almost every year of his career, so whatever he's doing has worked. He's going to add the element this year of playing in the heat, but I'm quite sure he's going to figure out a way this offseason to prepare himself as best he can to withstand that, because he prides himself on being able to go out there every single day to help his team win the game."

Every January I see a good many large people showing up at the gym commited to losing weight and staying in shape. They must not like my gym though because they only stay a few weeks. I'm sure they are finding a better gym to continue their commitment.

Someone would have to first be in shape to be able to stay in shape.

And next comes Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas and then the Superbowl blowouts. Guys with $214 million contracts in their pocket do not usually hit up the salad bar.

Would like to know his Body Fat index?
Until he gets it into the "fit athlete" range he is not walking the walk.

Almost certain this is the first time the words "stay nimble" and "Prince Fielder" were used in the same story. Anybody recall that belly flop in the general vicinity of 3rd base during the ALCS? Rumor has it he's also committed to staying "svelte, graceful, limber, and willowy,"
