07:29 AM ET 11.25 | The Yankees made a splash over the weekend, signing Brian McCann to take over behind the plate for a tidy $85 million over five years. [But] the Bronx Bombers are hardly stopping there. They are currently engaged with free agents Carlos Beltran, Jacoby Ellsbury, Shin-Soo Choo, Stephen Drew and Hiroki Kuroda while eying Joe Nathan and top pitching target Masahiro Tanaka. They are also pressing their own star, Robinson Cano, for a meeting soon to figure out whether there's something to talk about. The Yankees still suggest they believe they can meet their goal come in under the $189-million threshold after giving McCann the biggest annual salary ever for a free-agent catcher ($17 million), and are starting to wonder whether they can add three more free agents if they can't work it out with Cano.

The big question of the day...the FN POS (Page One Story), even...is, how many infield errors were made behind pitcher Burke Badenhop last season?

Looks like there won't be any room to sign Cano.

That is a lot of coin How pathetic is the fact that NY started stockpiling young catchers a few years back and now with this signing, they've basically admitted that they all sucked?Cash has GOT to go........What a waste

A semi trained baboon could do as well with that budget

Choo to the Rangers, Beltran to the Yankees, and Ellsbury and Drew stay in Boston.

Yep - needs to know what money is..... after that - the "how to handle it" is lost on Cashman.....

Kind of ironic don't ya know....

I think NY has a feeling that Cano is gone - so that frees up some more coin... Of course - with the Arod thing coming to a head in January - who really knows?
