Next coach to be fired

07:36 AM ET 11.25 | Already, there have been days dark enough this NHL season for coaches to have paid the price, and it's started in the Eastern Conference. With American Thanksgiving set for Thursday, there have been three coaching changes -- Philly, Buffalo and Florida -- but there could be more. Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen hasn't played the coach firing card since he took the job with the Jackets which means Todd Richards is in trouble. The Jets aren't pleased with what's happening and the whisper campaign about coach Claude Noel is louder. The Islanders like coach Jack Capuano, but they've been underachieving and GM Garth Snow hasn't shied away from changes in the past.

Given the Vanek trade, you have to think Capuano's first to go. Snow's job is probably on the line if they don't make the playoffs. Also, Nino Neiderreiter's looking pretty damn good in Minnesota.

That would be a shame. I like the guy, and he did well last year......but such is coaching when the stakes are high

Teams that looked like they turned the corner last year have retraced their steps back for some reason.

Good point. Shorter training camp might have evened things out as well.

Also agreed.

Even though I believe TOR is a legit team now, they are the poster child for playing well for half a season, then going down the proverbial %$# chute.

Claude Noel is pretty awful.

Brilliant observation, Danny. Simply brilliant.

I think we talked about this at the end of last season. Agree, but keep in mind when not much is expected its easy to expectations; once the bar gets raised some are out of their coaching league.

But he's just coming in season.

Agreed. This is the time of year they always sing his praises.

is he the first one?

Capuano should probably be fired along with the whole coaching staff. Line up changes, scratching guys who are playing well and the special teams of the Isles indicate its more than the players. When you have the 30th PK in the league and you scratch your best/fastest player in Grabner, you have to question WTF the coach is doing.

I think Santa Claus may come to Winnipeg earlier than usual this year.

I agree. Capuano should take his hair and his suits and audition for a part in Mob City.

It's hard to take a coach seriously when he buys his suits from Sears.
