07:24 AM ET 11.26 | In Detroit, there are no facial hair restrictions. The Tigers are moving toward a possible deal with free-agent bullpen closer Brian Wilson, The Detroit News has learned. A source told The Detroit News that negotiations with the ex-Dodgers and Giants reliever were serious. The source requested anonymity because a deal had not been reached. It is known Wilson met Sunday with Tigers manager Brad Ausmus and with Wilson's agent, Dan Lozano, during an earnest business session in Los Angeles. Wilson is a 31-year-old right-handed fireman who last season pitched for the Dodgers and who earlier had standout years for the Giants, highlighted by his league-leading 48 saves in 2010. Wilson had Tommy John ligament surgery in 2012 that ended his seven-year era in San Francisco.

They are almost sure of winning their division before the season starts and to get them to the next level and beyond they need a dominate closer to get them there.

This makes a lot of sense to me...but, they gotta have a backup plan because I think there's a good chance he'll get hurt again. He can fill a gaping hole on this team if he stays healthy.

It's a risk/reward situation.

I agree. He's a good fit for the Tiggers. As for injuries, he's had 2 TJ surgeries so there's still one ligament in his elbow that's original equipment.

He's probably not the answer but if you don't commit too much in salary, he is well worth a shot.

Ugly But Good, he would be a perfect fit for that staff!!!
