07:27 AM ET 11.26 | On the surface, the signing of David Murphy makes for an excess of outfielders in Cleveland. [But] GM Chris Antonetti said that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to trade those extra players. On Monday, Antonetti officially announced Murphy's signing after he passed his physical. They reached agreement with the left-handed hitting outfielder last week on a two-year $12 million deal with a club option for a third year. ... Murphy can play left and right field, but with the Indians he'll be getting the majority of playing time in right field. He can platoon with Ryan Raburn, Drew Stubbs or even Matt Carson, but right now most of the attention is on Murphy, Raburn and Stubbs and how manager Terry Francona is going to make that work.

Fourth OF's get their fare share of playing time these days, with all the pitching match ups and defensive substitutions managers need to contend with during a long season.
