Cano's offer for a limited time only

07:27 AM ET 11.26 | Tick-tock. The New York Yankees plan on talking to the agents for Robinson Cano on Monday to reiterate that they will only be able to keep their best offer on the table for so long, a baseball official told ESPN New York. While the Yankees want Cano to stay, they have already agreed with Brian McCann on an $85 million contract and are engaged in talks with a number of other free agents. ... If some of the Yankees' targets agreed to deals before Cano decides, then Cano -- who most believe wants to remain in the Bronx -- runs the risk that the Yankees could lower their offer or move on. While a source emphasized there is no "ultimatum," the Yankees feel they only have so much wiggle room above their initial seven-year, $160-plus million offer to Cano, in the context of their $189 million goal.

Agents that whisper sweet BS into their client's ears and ultimately cost them money should fork over some Benjamins. Some of these guys get very bad advice. Robbie is one of them.

This will be a PR disaster for Jay-Z. They set expectations so high tht anything less than 250 million is going to be seen as failure. They aren't going to get it. I don't see them getting 200 million. Boras is laughing his **** off now. He wasn't laughing at all when Cano jumped ship.

This should be obvious. No team can wait around while every other free agent gets signed. The Yankees want him back but they can't play this game at the cost of losing Kuroda or not being able to sign some guys to other positions. Jay-Z fancies himself a business man, welcome to The Show, bro.

QUOTE(#4):

That's a little overboard, I think. Sure, $160M won't look too good, but I think anything over $200M would be seen as a success. Boras has had plenty of clients end up signing for about half of the initial ask.

We'll see. This is Jay-Z's flagship signing. Perception is reality in something like this. I think the perception will be that Cano signd low unless they can get him $200 million. If Boras can get Ellsbury near what Cano signs for, he win this PR battle.

The good stuff doesn't give you a hangoverjust ask slinky ~ The PKI'm afraid you misunderstood, The PK. I may get a hangover from the good stuff, but I will get a hangover from the cheap stuff. Also, I wouldn't say it's a universal rule as everyone's different. I know folks who live in the well and don't have any problem with it.

So you're always drinking Macallan 20?

Factor in a 50 game suspension and budget from there. His lawyers have already said they will challenge the decision in court so who knows when this fiasco will ever end.
