There have been rumors that the Nets have been trying to talk the Pacers into taking Vince Carter in exchange for Jermaine O'Neal, but Indiana hasn't budged. A report on ESPN.com last night also said that the Nets, Knicks and Heat have had discussions about a three-way deal that would send Carter to the Knicks, Eddy Curry to Miami and the expiring contracts of Jason Williams and Ricky Davis to New Jersey.

Even though O'Neal is hurt, i'd still do the deal. You know Vince doesn't want to be there if Kidds not gonna be there. The only downside is that i like Vince, so i wouldn't want to see him going to a bad team. I thin he deserves better.

i like the second deal with carter to the knicks curry to MIA and the expiring contracts to NJ

Trade him to the GlobeTrotters or with the AND1 streetballers.

He's a novelty item. That is what has become of him. Spectacular with his highlight reels but so unreliable in crunch time. Heartless!!!

New Jersey would not get a higher value for him.

Since there is talk about the Lakers needing a true #3, I'm shocked not to hear them offering Odom for Vince

February 20, 2008  08:51 AM ET

Carter and Kobe on the same team!? That would be interesting, but not going to happen.

Sounds like NJ wants to start from scratch. Especially if they dump Carter for expiring contracts...

February 20, 2008  09:01 AM ET

JTMeek... what makes you think that Vince is a "true" 3?

he's played SG his whole career.

February 20, 2008  09:05 AM ET

jtmeek are u for real? the lakers are not that stupid carter is so overrated and as if we would stuff out bright future for a bloke who will earn 15 mil a year for the next 5 years....

luckedout of course nj want to start from scratch... if they could pull this deal of they would be absolutly pumped... they would have something like 36 mil on the books next year... so about 20 mil under the cap... then they could build around the best player on their team(jefferson) say sign brand as a free agent... hopefully another good role playing free agent and also use there mid level on a 4th option kind of player....

would leave them with
RJ
Harris
Brand

bench.. nenad williams(both of them) josh boone... plus the endless amount of draft picks they will have in the next few years plus mle's
amazing building blocks for a good team.

No way the Pacers do this. We have Dunleavy, Granger, Rush, and Williams. We need a point guard and a big man that can run. If this happens, the Pacers get another big contract for an expiring contract.

February 20, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Carter has really built himself a career.

All that talent and no takers. Way to go Vince....

February 20, 2008  09:30 AM ET

I think he meant Vince as the #3 option on the Lakers.

February 20, 2008  09:31 AM ET

Vince Vince has been on his way he should have been traded last year and what better place for O'Neal to go then the Nets, NOT, the if I were O'Neal I would stay exactly where I am, the Nets are going to be a rebuilding team for the next two to three years without Carter, or Kidd

February 20, 2008  09:32 AM ET

Venessa Cater is a waste of talent and will never win anything in his career. All he is known for is one Dunk Contest. He disappears when it matters the most. He deserves to to go to the Knicks and be in shame the rest of his career. He really should be put in jail for robbery. He has been stealing money from NBA teams his whole career.

February 20, 2008  09:32 AM ET

Curry is such a waste, he even makes getting a guy like Carter a good idea.

February 20, 2008  09:37 AM ET

Also Jefferson is not a player you build a team around he is a good 2 option.

February 20, 2008  09:44 AM ET

please let carter end up on the Knicks instead of Indiana. I am not sure why this is better but I just would hate to see Carter in an Indiana jersey, it would look wrong.

February 20, 2008  10:10 AM ET

he's played SG his whole career.
ProSleeper | 02/20/08, 09:01 AM

no when he was in toranto he was SF cause T-mac was SG and when he got traded Mo-pete became SG but when vince came to NJ they had RJ so they moved VC to SG

February 20, 2008  10:18 AM ET

hahahahaha!!!!
3 teams involved, and NONE of them will be any better AFTER the trades! Incredible. -What a waste of time.

All 3 teams are banking on a "change of scenery" to MAKE THE DIFFERENCE for each of the players involved. -I don't think so. Agreed the big names are all very talented, but they have shown little promise the last 2 long seasons.

After these trades, the East will still be quite weak. Besides Boston and Detroit there is not much other competition. They will quite easily be stuffed by the West.

February 20, 2008  10:36 AM ET

cmon riley......eddy curry???

February 20, 2008  10:37 AM ET

Maybe the three teams should all combine. Even then do they compete with Boston/Detroit?

February 20, 2008  11:07 AM ET

pheasant new jersey do improve because the get rid of VC(Vince Cancer) and his huge contract for expiring contracts so they can rebuild around harris, jefferson, the free agent they aquire this offseason with all there cap room and all there picks! i see that as a improvement considering they were going nowhere with this years team.... so if the deal gets done they can have a quaility free agent or 2 plus RJ Harris and alot of high draft picks over the next few years.... better of than alot of other teams.
