Winston ruling after ACC title game

07:20 AM ET 11.27 | Jameis Winston may already be on his way to New York before a ruling on his legal case surfaces. The State Attorney's Office probably needs the next two weeks or longer before deciding whether to bring charges against the Florida State quarterback, assistant state attorney of the Second Judicial Circuit Georgia Cappleman told CBSSports.com on Tuesday. "It's mostly likely (after next week)," Cappleman said. The state attorney is waiting on evidence that hasn't yet arrived, said Cappleman, who declined comment on specifics of the investigation. State Attorney Willie Meggs told the Associated Press last week that a ruling would not come before Thanksgiving. A week extension from that timeline all but assures Winston will play in the ACC championship game on Dec. 7 in Charlotte.

If this was going on in C-bus, the traffic would be grid-locked because of all the schmucks reporting any and everything they could find/make-up.

Sounds like Winston got the authorities on his side or they have alot of money riding on the game.......

The BcS will do its "thing" with or without JW, so I don't really understand the comment. By any BcS guru calculation that I have seen all Free Shoes has to do is win out and they are in. As I said to EWO yesterday, EWO could QB this team in its next two games and hang 70 in each game.

DC, you do know that there is not a BcS committee do you not?

So, you sayin' they belong in the NCG with/without JW?

Yes I do. However, there are two "quasi" BCS committees that influence the formula...and they are called the Harris Poll and the Coaches Poll.

...and, there is that group of sinister jerks that operate in smoke filled back rooms (aka BCS members) designed to dream up this system to perpetuate favoritism based on what they want it to. Status quo.

I don't know that my opinion matters as you point out in your post#8. It is a formulaic process and the gap between Ohio State (current #3) and Free Shoes is much too wide to be bridged by the human polls.

Let's pretend for a moment that this rape stuff was not reality and instead of a criminal charge hanging over JW's head he tears his ACL in the 4th quarter of the ACC Championship game and is lost for the year. Do you think the human polls would drop Free Shoes? I am not saying that there wouldn't be some voters who would change their mind and drop Free Shoes but look at the gap that has to be overcome for Ohio State to move to the #2 spot.

It is a moot point. Free Shoes and Gumps are playing if they run their tables. No matter what.

I agree our opinions don't matter...and poll voters don't know sheeeyut either. But those morons get a portion of deciding who gets in.

I just enjoy watching the BCS "process" flop around.

Even with the potential problems, I'm looking forward to a committee examining some criteria beyond perception and beauty contest.

Just wish we were going to 8 instead of 4. IMHO that is the place where true separation begins to show up...even those some of the last ones in/out could be splitting hairs.

What a way for the BCS to go out. What a game... 'bama v FSU without Winston. There is also a good chance the Heisman people will have an indicted felon as one of their brethren (whoops, I forgot about O.J.)... 2 of its brethren. There is no good answer to this dilemma and it sucks.

On another matter, listening to the talking heads make their cases for why a 1-loss SEC team will jump over an undefeated OSU I realize why the sports press is so angry over next year's group who will pick the 4 teams to play for the NC. The group assembled to choose will have way less bias and agendas that the press have... and they don't like it. The talking heads will do anything they can to keep OSU out of the NC game and not give Braxton Miller any Heisman props. It is so obvious it is ridiculous. For me, I hope the Buckeyes win out and go to the Rose Bowl game. The NC game is going to be a fiasco, maybe a 1-loss SEC team versus a Winston-less FSU. I say give the talking heads what they want!

You can wait a year to do anything and now time matters? Hmmm?

River I hear you and feel some of what you are saying but think your scarlet is coloring your gray matter just a tad. The banter on the airways and internet that is talking a one loss SEC nonsense is just that ... nonsense. They are shooting for ratings and reactions and killing time on the airwaves and typing text into their otherwise vapid blogs.

An undefeated tOSU will not be passed by any one loss SEC team. Not gonna happen so chill.

There is not conspiracy but there are a lot of haters. Winning breeds em so I take the good with the bad. If we go to the NC I will be happy and am confident that Urban will have them ready and focused. Because our defense is not as good as FSU's or Bama's I have no doubt that we will be the underdog but that is okay. Just show up, leave it all on the field and make Buckeye Nation proud.

If we go Roses I will be thrilled too. Just get the W and make it 26 in a row heading into '14.

Happy Thxgiving to you bro.

Great post.

The Harris committee is a group 100 loyalists hand picked and approved by the university chancellors. Yeah that sounds fair and unbiased.

Coach's poll - filled out by graduate assistants every weekend. Yeah that sounds fair and unbiased.

But ... the biggest joke of all is the computer element of the BCS system. Evaluating limited pools of data using proprietary algorithms is laughable ... but hey man it's "technology" so it must be right, right? Wrong. I can use statistics and denominator effects to make numbers say anything I want. It's called torturing the numbers until they confess.

GOODBYE TO THE BCS.

November 27, 2013  10:14 AM ET

Figures.

November 27, 2013  10:14 AM ET

Well, if FSU has the BCS ranking, it will appear in the BCS NCG with or without Winston.

Nice articulation of the situation.

They say the same thing every year, over and over, and it is completely devoid of intellectual rigor.

Most of the talk I hear down here is that no SEC team will jump Ohio State. They WANT it to happen but they say they don't see it happening.

That is rational reality at its best Joe. I have been skewered on here by B-f-G and some others for saying this but I will say it again. I want to emphasize this is just my feeling and my opinion.

If my Buckeyes go to the NC game I will not feel "whole" unless we vanquish an SEC team. I have had to put up with and listen to the "overrated" nonsense for 7 yrs now coming all from SEC folks that I just want to beat an SEC team. It is almost like beating FSU would be "tainted". I want to shut Paul Finebaum up and beat Bama.

But what the hell if you fall and we go I will take it but the taste of victory would just be a little sweeter if we beat you.
