07:25 AM ET 11.27 | The broadcasting of NHL games took a dramatic turn away from TSN on Tuesday, which leaves many questions unanswered. [Will] Don Cherry's future turn into a saga of Sour Grapes? ... A tweet from @CityNews Tuesday night indicated that "Rogers Broadcast prez has spoken with Don Cherry and they've agreed to meet," an interesting twist to a very fluid story. On the surface, you would think that no one wants to be known as the person who fired Don Cherry. Nor has it come to that point, as far as we know. But there certainly were mixed messages sent on Tuesday morning regarding the popular broadcaster when his name came up during a splashy press conference announcing the enormous NHL broadcast deal between the league and Rogers.

If the NHL network really wants to boost ratings they should replace PM with him.
They have Monday/Tuesday games and Wednesdays is Rivalry night....add this air bag to your line up.

Breaking News!! Don Cherry signs long term deal with the Comedy Channel.

Isn't that where all the buffoons go? He's a vaudeville act that got old twenty years ago.

I honestly respect DCs passion for hockey and the brave men who serve. However, you are right. He is way, way past his best before date.

I still make sure to watch Coach's Corner, but that is out of nostalgia more than anything. He is incapable of a coherent sentence, much less a thought.

Hang 'em up Donald S.

Why would Rogers fire a guy who's still immensely popular? Its not like he's a spring chicken at this point anyway, just let nature take its course.

There will be riots in the streets clear across Canada (except in Toronto) if Don Cherry gets fired. Some people turn to their TVs on just to see what he has to say. Just ask Hank.

Wonder if the owners knew this deal was in the works when they locked out the players and rolled back their salaries?
