Last resort for Rangers?

07:28 AM ET 11.27 | By any measure, the Rangers are struggling offensively -- so badly that coach Alain Vigneault is entertaining the idea of playing a more conservative game. "(Monday night's 5-0 loss to the Lightning) was our 24th game, and in 15 of those games we've scored two goals or less," Vigneault said after practice Tuesday afternoon. "That's a pretty good chunk if you want a segment that tells you what you have. There's a chunk there that tells us we're not scoring a lot. Maybe we've got to play even tighter to the vest than we are and go into games with that mentality of (trying to win) 2-1." The thought sounds frighteningly familiar, but it's also clear Vigneault would follow through on that idea only as a last resort.

A.V. going back to Tort's style of coaching? These guys havent been able to score since '94. Aside from the defense and goalie, we got a bunch of 4th line guys.

Sather you needed a pure goal scorer. You went and got Gabby and Nash for Richards to pass to, but ya sent Gabby packing. And Nash is another Broadway star destined to flame out like all the rest. Our only hope is Kreider, and praying he finds the back of the net since he has had a ton of chances.

Rumor is MDZ, Girardi and JT Miller for Kessler

Maybe they should play the Stars every week or so...

Well .... duh! If it ain't broke don't fix it! But ... it is broke! Fix it! And ... with a 5-0 thumping, I'd say chances are pretty good you need a "more conservative" game ... even in liberal NY. ;-)

But ... you KNOW Sather wants Celine to be thrown into that package for free. ;-)

The usual demons are still here. Richards started hot and now hasnt got a point in 5 or 6 games. Hopefully nash gets a groove but thats like waiting for your d**k to get bigger. He needs to watch some Lucic video and see how a big man earns his space. For **** sakes run someone over!!

If not for Lundqvist they lose that game. The Stars had 44 shots, over 20 in the first. Bring back the Preds

That's because you're just reading the label upside down, Rex. Pink color glasses also fix the problem. ;-)

The Stepan, Haglain, Kreider line was playing well. Nash comes back and somehow Hags ends up on the 3rd line. That line has major speed and leaves Richards, cally and Nash as the other major line. Just leave them and use Zuc on the powerplay and 3rd line.
Kreider needs to learn to hit the back of the net. He gets tons of chances

Agree all around.
Power play is one thing, but I have never understood putting all of the "big guys" on one line...it also appears that Boyle's stint of good games stopped at 3...
