Packers defender wants to punch people in the throat

12:04 PM ET 11.30 | The Green Bay Packers defense hasn't been the same force this season that they have been in the past. As far as defensive end Mike Daniels is concerned, that is because the team lacks a certain physicality and mentality. Daniels wants to see his teammates get tougher and apparently he is a fan of mixed martial arts. Being physical is one thing, but punching and choking people is another. We know Daniels is speaking in hyperbole and not being literal, but he needs to be careful with his comments before he draws too much attention from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or he will be watched closely by league offices.

OR, you could just improve your shed blocking techniques and tackling?

The wizard of OZ, very soon.

If Barry Sanders came out of retirement he could still gain 100+ yards against today's "punchless" Packers defense.

I thought tackling had been outlawed in the "NEW" NFL. ?!?

Gotta watch what you say, big brother is always watching. Right Riley?

The Pack are still among the league leaders in personal fouls, and their defensive leader, Matthews, set the tone when he dragged Kaepernick down by the neck 5 yards out of bounds back in week 1.

When Charles Woodson was there, GB went for sure tackles, wrapping up people in text-book fashion. Now, the irony of that GB lineman Sitton calling the Lions "thugs" is beyond hypocritical. Green Bay has more PIZZA penalties than Green Bay.

The loss of Rodgers is huge, obviously. Rodgers is arguably the best player in the game. But Rodgers doesn't play defense, nor is he a cheap shot artist who can't tackle, like seemingly everybody on GBs' defense (except AJ Hawk).

Tackling is only outlawed for Viking DBs

I hope he doesn't start practicing on his wife and neighbors. Da! Hell if he wants to fight, he should start fighting his **** that has made him slower then a mule. The guy is worthless. He spends more time on the bench than on the field.

You meant the first half didn't you because by the second they are gassed and he could easily tack on another 100. Everyone else is. I can say one thing about the packers these guys are in the worst shape then any team in football.

I remember that play. I guess Matthews was still a little grumpy for how Kapernick basically had the Pack's collective head on a swivel (defensively speaking) in last January's Divisional playoff. If tenacious defensive isn't an option, apparently cheap shots are.

I never like seeing players injured. I never cheer for an injury, in the past, present, or future.

But sometimes (like in Matthews' case), karma is a bleach. I can't stand Kaepernick's seemingly immature sense of entitlement, but dragging him down by the head like Claymaker did should've been a 1 game suspension. It was Suh-esque. He makes highlight reels because he does make outstanding plays. But he's also a cheap shot artist. Matthews is half the player Urlacher was (I'd argue AJ Hawk is more consistent than Matthews), but because he smiles nice for Fathead and razor commercials, he's a god.

That's a common denominator this year with a lot if teams, really. The Colts come to mind.

The new CBA limits team-mandated workouts. Thus, there's a lot of players gassed by halftime.

For the Pack, BJ Raji looks gassed by the first half's two minute warning. And he's so big, it looks like the entire team is huffing. Amazingly, Lacy looks to be getting stronger.

Until this year AJ Hawk couldnt tackle period. Cheap shot or not. He was AJ "Half Tackle" Hawk. Always jumping on top of the pile.
