09:08 AM ET 12.01 | One veteran who seems to have caught the eye of a few teams, based on comments to NFP, is Philadelphia wide receiver Riley Cooper. His N-word indiscretion this summer aside -- a lapse of judgment that could have cost the four-year veteran a spot with the Eagles and perhaps dented his career -- Cooper could be a popular "sleeper" free agent in the spring if the Eagles don't sign him to an extension. Said one personnel man: "He's made himself some money (this year), definitely, whether it's in Philadelphia or somewhere else. Maybe not big-time money, but I'd guess he's going to get a pretty decent offer somewhere. If you're convinced he'll fit in your locker room, and there won't be any (ramifications) from the incident in the summer, he's an intriguing guy."

His indiscretion aside, he is good 'second tier' receiver

Well he's #2 in my book.

Good receiver, solid skills. Made a mistake, nuff said. I know the media will carry it to his death bed because that's what they do. I expect he will have a solid career. He's a good receiver.

What's the going rate for an ignorant racist?

Honestly, I'll care about his use of "that word" when it's no longer being used (as a descriptive term) by those who claim to be most offended by it. Having said that, I'm glad that he just went out and played football. There's really nothing he can say that will satisfy people on the issue in question. The best thing he could have done is exactly what he did.

Funny, Riley Cooper is still being ripped on for his use of the racial slur... yet Richie Incognito's use was quickly swept under the rug.

I know there's a lot of media hype still swirling around the Incognito/Jonathan Martin saga, but Incognito's use of the N-word has hardly been part of it.

It's really hypocritical.

As far as the story....

31 catches for 592 yards (19.1ypc), 53.8ypg and 7 TD's. In almost twice as few targets as Jackson. He's a pretty good player.

Cooper will walk and Avant will be the #2 WR next season most likely. Unless, they draft a WR and keep Avant as a #3 WR.

if Vick can get big money after what he did - then Cooper can get a decent paycheck. It took Vick a while before he was actually apologetic for what he did. Cooper seemed to be genuinely sorry, and his teammates after a few days to cool off, have backed him up.

Vick is a thug and a murderer and a pathological liar. Cooper is a racist.

Well he does bring that little something extra to the party.

I don't put killing animals, pets or not, in the same category as "murderer'. I agree thug, and no doubt he has some serious decision making issues. as for cooper, if you think you don't have at LEAST one white dude on the Giants squad who uses that word or is a full on racist your crazy.....

You can kill someone, beat your wife, get a DWI, and the NFL will forgive you. But call someone a bad word, you are branded with the scarlet letter for life.

Right, 'cuz he's the only player in the NFL who has EVER used the n-word.
