Jack Capuano on Islanders' hot seat?

09:46 AM ET 12.01 | It's impossible to make the argument that Islanders coach Jack Capuano isn't trying, or that he doesn't care. Yet, as of late, it's easy to make the argument that all of the effort and passion has gone for naught, as Capuano's team fell again on Saturday night at the Coliseum, a 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals which was the Islanders' sixth loss in a row -- the past five being without the loser's point -- and 11th loss in the past 13 games. And on Friday, the home fans chanted for his head, the singsong of "Fire Cappy" echoing off the crumbling walls. Capuano was afforded an opportunity four Novembers ago, when he took over for the fired Scott Gordon, who was in the midst of a similar losing streak. Now he has a team that is struggling to perform, no matter what he tries to do. The coach might have been talking about the players, but he could have very well been talking about his own fate.

For my American friends while I still can.......

From what I've seen, the Islanders aren't playing bad, they're just not playing quite good enough to win. Was last year a fluke? The shortened season and almost no preseason may have actually helped them.

Must be a typo, shouldn't that headline actually read, "Garth Snow on Islanders' hot seat"?

December 1, 2013  10:41 AM ET

Good thing Garth gave away all those draft picks in the Vanek deal because they don't need them now that they have their perfect team in place.

Well sure, its the Red Wings. The Wings can make any team look bad. Right BostonGM?

By the way, anyone looking at the Pens/Panthers score might think that the Pens won in a walk. The truth is the Pens were out muscled and out hustled for most of the game. The Panthers had the Pens pinned in their own zone for long periods of time, but they'd make one mistake, or the Pens would get a good rush and all of sudden the puck was in the net. I actually started feeling bad for the Panthers. They out shot the Pens 40 to 22, but it was a combination of Zatkoff being fantastic and Tim Thomas being bad that let the Pens win by such a big margin.

Whenever The Mighty Mini Commish says "it's a win for the fans" you just know you're going to get bent over.

Timmy is not an option. Some College kid or somebody playing in Juniors would do better.
