Asik dominating trade speculation

07:08 AM ET 12.02 | 'Tis the season. It's December, so the NBA trade market heats up. # Knicks, like others, are shopping, what's available? Not much. The name that is dominating the early rumors is Omer Asik of the Rockets. The disgruntled center can be had, but Houston isn't just giving him away. In fact, the Rockets are setting the market high for Asik, with a demand of two first round picks in any deal. That eliminates the Knicks. ... They can't move one until 2018. Even if they did, Asik's luxury tax hit next season is the same as Jeremy Lin's ($15 million), which would make it an expensive transaction. It's more likely the Knicks will target more of an "energy" big, if they can land one. Kenneth Faried, a recently rumored name, certainly would fit that mold, but the Nuggets have shown no interest in making a deal.

I'm not sure if Denver wants to deal with a Western conf team, but Faried for Asik (and whatever scrubs) might work for both. Denver needs a true center, and HOU can use a hustle PF to ramp up defense.

Why would Denver trade Faried? He is doing well w/ the nuggets and he is starting. Maybe Asik for Faried could work.

Given what the Rockets are asking, Asik should make himself comfortable. It's going to be awhile..

Sorry guys for the double posts. This site works when it feels like it.

Asik I don't think gets traded as there are no takers for his production vs. his cap hit. The lack of quality centers is spread so thin that it doesn't matter as much if you don't have one. The two best centers in the NBA you could argue more are not even first options on their own team. About Faried it seems Shaw doesn't want to be all aboard Faried's limited post game/half court game. For that reason they don't know if they want to give him a big time salary extension which I think Faried is looking for. I don't think Faried is going to get traded though he easily is outplaying his rookie deal and I almost certain Denver would want a first round pick.

2 firsts is too much especially when it's obvious that the Houston-Asik relationship is terrible at this point. If Houston could get Faried for Asik that would be a steal. Still not sure why the Nuggets want him gone though.

Man lol still laughing no. There will always be a better deal than Amare. You never trade for a player that is one foot out of the NBA by his knees giving out. Amare is completely off the board for any and every team. The Knicks have him on a minute restriction just to get something out him for fear of breaking him down. If they can take on Amare they might as welll get Pau, Boozer. Houston needs to get real and accept say Milsap for Asik and whatever piece needed to work. Milsap can pick and pop and play in the half-court setting, post up. They need a jump shooting big man 10-15ft that is it to spread the floor. Atlanta has been looking for a center since forever. Actually looking at it Bargnani would fit in better with what the Rockets like to do but why have Bargnani when you can have Milsap IMO better cheaper salary but longer terms.

Milsap for Asik?!?

December 2, 2013  03:00 PM ET

The milsap idea isn't bad.....I don't think though at would move him at this pointBargnani actually could work as he has an option next yearBut truth be told....I don't think NY wants asikTyson comes back in a couple weeks and then you have the same disgruntled dude

Yeah doesn't seeem like it will work. They need another team to get involved. Houston needs to trade with Atlanta if they want a big that can shoot. The rest will be like say Anderson and a pick perhaps for Asik. There are really only a few teams where Asik can go. Asik is good but not good enough to be giving up top draft picks for.
