07:10 AM ET 12.02 | Iman Shumpert's status with the Knicks continues to serve up headlines, and yet he found another way to land in them over the weekend. A shouting match with Carmelo Anthony and rookie Tim Hardaway Jr.'s breakout game may have pushed [Shumpert] closer to the door. Hardaway is fighting for playing time with Shumpert, who got into a heated rant with Anthony on the Knicks bench during a third-quarter timeout. Anthony didn't look at him as Shumpert raved. Shumpert, who was then benched for the fourth quarter of the 103-99 loss to the Pelicans, called his tiff with Anthony "a miscommunication" on defense. ... Anthony declined to talk about Shumpert, who has been on the trading block since the middle of last month. Trades usually pick up Dec. 15.

shump for osik?

The Knicks are a mess, looking for a scape goat. The Knicks made too many off-season moves and its costing them. A lot of the old guys (Rasheed Wallace, Jason Kid) were vital in keeping the team level and grounded. Trading Novak was a big mistake, picking up Bianni was a bad move and not having kurt Thomas around is also a bad move.

Here's my hypothesis - IF Knicks lose their next game, which will make it 10 straight losses, Woodson is gone.

As far as Shump, no one cares bro. He's not a difference maker. Just an OK player.

I thought Shump was an all star. Why would you trade a player like that? He has all star numbers and is the best defender in the Knicks.

Shumps their only defender.... I don't think Anthony's ever played defense or knows how...

Welp, on a good note.........you are still better than the Jazz...

The team is just not that good. Should they be better maybe a game or two but they are not that good. Shumpert became expendable with signing J.R. and drafting Hardaway. When you are counting on J.R. to be your second best player you know you have problems. Melo is likely gone if Knicks were smart they would trade Melo to the highest bidder. Knicks at best are a first round exit. However I don't see them making the playoffs because once they fire Woodson it will get slightly worse before it gets better.

Shump is definitely a talented defender with enough of a 3 point shot to help on offense. Depending on the trade, he would be a great pickup for any team. Hard to watch a young talent like Shump get caught up in the disaster known as the Knicks.

Time To Leave The Least Coast, Bro?

agree- move melo for something- not only cause they currently stink-but going forward- they will have to give him kobe $$ to stay.and we've seen that they can't win with melo and filler.why go down the path for another 4-5 years ?

Yeah. Depends on if your owner just wants fans in the seats regardless. I mean the owner is making plenty of dough but if he wants to win a chip he is going to need new pieces. If he just wants fans in the seats then keep Melo just like the Lakers did Kobe. Not sure Melo wants to stay when he knows he is not getting far until another star comes a year or two. It is going to take multiple players to move Melo. I really can't see Melo staying at this point. He came to NY to get money and compete for ring.

Melo+Shump+Hardaway for Butler+Deng+Taj+etc. Chicago should be on the phone as well, they are reaching the blowup point. Get somebody like Atalanta involved for a 3-way deal. Atlanta has some tradeable players

It will be amusing to see if any team is stupid enough to trade for Melo. The guy is a cancer. The Nuggets got better when he left and so will the Knicks. Re-signing JR Smith was an idiot move (currently shooting 33%). I hope the Knicks continue to suck as long as the Dolan family owns the team, just as I hate the Cowboys because the owner is a jerk.

I don't agree...well not yet. Their first round pick for the 2014 draft goes to Denver (unprotected) so going for rock bottom in the hope for wiggens, parker or randle is futile. I say trade for a point guard. Felton just don't cut it. Just don't include anymore 1st rounders. If the relationship between shump and melo can be saved, keep shumpert, trade JR and felton.

I wonder if the Knicks management know that it's a buyers market. And other teams won't be breaking the bank just to land Shumpart. The best they can get for him is a 1st round draft pick and a player at the end of the bench. New York won't be getting a All-Star for Shumpart.

Every team is just watching the Knicks fall apart and will wait until the trade deadline comes closer to make any deals with New York.

The part you are missing is NY Knicks should be in the driving seat for getting picks or top level talent if they work this right. Just like if they let go of the pick to get Melo they can get a pick if they trade away Melo
