Leafs irked by Pacioretty's celebration

07:28 AM ET 12.02 | Montreal's Max Pacioretty didn't much endear himself to the rival Maple Leafs over the weekend, beginning with head coach Randy Carlyle. After scoring the fourth Canadiens goal on Saturday, a short-handed softie when the Leafs defence and goalie Jonathan Bernier were too passive, Pacioretty celebrated in front of the Toronto net, dangling his stick like a sword and then sheathing it. Leafs coach Carlyle branded it a "hot-dog" move, but said it was what the struggling Leafs needed as they scored twice in 22 seconds before the middle period ended. "That stirred our emotions," Carlyle said. "From the standpoint of the sashay, the sword and the spin, those kind of things. That's why we finally got involved and emotionally mad. We were better after that, it's what stirred the pot."

Based on the title, I was calling "Toronto Sun". Much to my surprise when I opened the thread...

Maybe if you stop him from scoring, you wouldn't have to worry about his celebration.

Maybe the guys on the ice at the time should try to figure out why they scored and figure out a way to not do that.

Upset over that?? They should be more upset with their own play instead of a guy celebrating a goal.

....and just when Rob Ford had the parade route planned. Guess we have to wait another year (or 50).

That's what I thought. They more or less stood around and watched Pacioretty skate and Bernier couldn't have looked worse unless he got out of the way.

Wasn't there a goalie controversy in Toronto a couple days ago?

I'm sorry, was this Randy Carlyle or that guy on the designer show? (Tim Gunn?)
The Sashay? the Sword? Ugh, and his spin was just all wrong.....

Haven't gotten to watch much lately, but really glad to hear that Patches is finally on track. I don't care what he does as long as he continues to score like he has.

I'm having a brain cramp here, which player once celebrated a goal by swan diving to the ice and then pretended to swim up the ice? Was it Ovie? I can't believe I can't remember, it was hilarious.

Wrong stuff to be irked by. Seems to me the Leafs should be irked they're losing. But, the way they've been playing lately, maybe losing isn't as big a deal.

Nail Yakupov did it in training camp last year but, it looked more like he was paddling a canoe when he was on his belly. Even motivational speaker/coach Ralph Krueger wasn't impressed by that display.

Ovie had the 'stick is so hot I can't touch it' routine is the one I remember.
