08:59 PM ET 12.03 | There are multiple media reports that the Penn State Nittany Lions have parted ways with two assistant coaches. According to reports, linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden and quarterbacks coach Charlie Fisher will not be returning to the team next season. The reports state that Vanderlinden and Fisher were informed about the decision on Sunday and an official decision could be coming as early as today. Vanderlinden was one of the two assistants that remained on the Penn State coaching staff as a holdover from the Joe Paterno era, which means defensive line coach Larry Johnson becomes the last man standing. Fisher's release was a surprise. Fisher is a well-respected assistant that has been a big part in the development of former Nittany Lions and current Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin, along with freshman quarterback sensation Christian Hackenberg.
