Add another name to Knicks coaching mix

07:27 AM ET 12.04 | If, indeed, the Knicks' coaching carousel spins and Mike Woodson is let go by Jim Dolan, who's next? Would [Jeff Van Gundy] coach the Knicks again? Sure, but only if he got what Woodson wants: better players. Until then, Van Gundy's current job is better than Woodson's. Plus, before I see Van Gundy riding in on a white horse there's a trusted adviser to Dolan who I'm hearing could be next in line. No, not that guy. But Allan Houston, supposedly the GM in training, looms as a potential successor. The word around Knicks camp is that Dolan wouldn't hesitate to promote him to head coach if the Knicks don't turn things around sooner than later. Houston's $100 million contract placed the Knicks in salary cap purgatory for years. Maybe having to coach this Knicks team would be his payback.

I would only sign Houston if I was looking to tank the season

Knicks invested so much money on players that never seemed to work out Marbaury, Houston, and now Melo

Don't take that job!

That's it!! Knicks figured out the missing piece of the puzzle. Alan Houston to the rescue!!

Would be another dumb move for Dolan. And why would Houston take the coaching job when he has it easy w/ his current job?

In other news, the 2 NY team will be fighting for the worse team tomorrow. Both teams guaranteed championship or bust. Both teams were arguing which team owns NY.

Houston is a slime ball- he stole $ from the knicks in the past by choosing not to rehab after he got hurt (long story)and now they are grooming this slime to take over the franchise ?lolperfect

Why would you expect anything other than this plan?

Typical ungrateful Knicks fan.... Dude hit numerous clutch shots to get the Knicks past various teams and deeper into the playoffs. He has played hurt his whole career and has done nothing but give his all to the organization. He's the only reason this team was a contender during his playing days, never in any kind of trouble with the league, never a head case off of the court. He's the type of guy you want working with the franchise. Dude is a class act....... SMH!!!

I agree. Except for the only reason they were any good. He played with a great center. Houston's career was shortened by injuries but he could shoot the lights out. He didn't hang on too long either, he retired at 34.
