07:28 AM ET 12.04 | Perhaps Luol Deng will remain in Chicago, after all. General manager Gar Forman is still hopeful the Chicago Bulls can work out an extension with [Deng]. "We value Luol a lot," Forman said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" Tuesday on ESPN Chicago 1000. "And Luol is a big piece of the success we've had the last several years though we haven't gotten to our ultimate goal. We think Luol is going to continue to be a big piece, a big part of what we're doing." ... Deng, who is in the final year of his contract, couldn't get an extension worked out last summer. He told ESPN.com's Chris Broussard earlier this year that he would like to retire as a Bull but his name has surfaced as a possible trade target given the fact that the Bulls' championship aspirations evaporated when Derrick Rose went down with another knee injury.

In my eyes the second most valuable player on the bulls roster

Why re-sign an old player now?? It's over. The Bulls run as a contender with this current lot is done and dusted. It is time to rebuild. Don't become like Boston, hanging on to old bodies just "hoping".
Chicago should make some moves NOW so they can collect some draft picks for 2014.

Deng to Dallas...

We value Luol a lot! You sure didn't show that for how many years now. Actions speaks louder then words. You simply didn't care about him and just pushed him aside...

GM is basically saying if Deng meets price range we will extend otherwise not. Teams are not lining up to do any sign and trades for Deng. Like it happened for the Nets and Knicks (Williams, Melo). I think he expects like a 3 yr 12mill/yr type deal. I don't know if he will get it. Depending on how the draft goes I expect him to walk as a FA and be on a team like Utah, Atl, Dallas.

He's a proven player and a team ready to compete NOW may be willing to trade picks in the future for the talent right now.

I think you will find that the list is short but it could happen. I only see the Clippers maybe Portland in that category but I am not sure he gives them that much over what they have. All the other contenders are really set at SF

OKC, SA, GS, POR, Hous, Miami, Indy

Deng I don't see going anywhere before the deadline

the most comparable player to him is iggyand he is BETTER than iggyiggy got I think a 13 mil per year deal for 4 yearsdeng should surely command that

Maybe I disagree as Iggy is better to me. Better passer almost equally good shooting better in transition. Iggy can do much more as in run the offense to setup others. Deng has had some weird injuries that might scare off a few teams. 3 year 12 or so milion I think he will get that but not on the Bulls though because they really are competing for bottom half of the playoffs not necessarily contenders.
