Panthers very aggressively shopping Kulikov

07:38 AM ET 12.04 | Florida has lost three straight, and five of six, and it ranks 15th in a weak Eastern Conference with a grand total of seven wins on the season. [Panthers] defenceman Dmitri Kulikov has been available for most of this year but the Panthers are kicking it up, very aggressively shopping him, and trying to get an auction going for a 23-year-old defenceman who was picked 14th overall in the 2008 draft. Kulikov though has two knocks against him. One, he hasn't been developing and playing particularly well for Florida and two, he's a restricted free agent at the end of the year and there are fears that because he has the KHL option as a Russian, he might go back there instead of playing in the NHL.

Half the Oilers team is made up of Russians. I think MacT would like to add to their collection.

Why? Does Dmitri have a concussion problem or did he attend an American college?

I just think Burke finds the smell of cabbage irresistible.

Isn't this just an MDZ story using a pseudonym?

It's actually a hernia story BGD. "Turn your head and Kulikov".

There were a lot of empty seats in Sunrise last night. The new owner can't be too happy about that.

Is there ever a night where there are no empty seats?

Nope, never, at least not for Panthers games.

I'll bet it was half of the announced attendance.

If he's Russian, New Jersey will be rushin' to get him. (Just as long as his name isn't Kovalchuk.)

Right now, Dmitri is nothing but defensive insurance for a good team - and not quite good enough to make a real difference for the struggling teams. And in a package - with whom?

The seats were less than a third full in Sunrise - it looked like the $200 seats at the Air Canardia Centre 2-3 minutes into the third period of any game - wot's with that? Lots of empty seats for a lot of games around the southerly league this year - the earlier the game, the more empty seats, it seems. Checked out the prices online - from $8 US for the cheaps, for some of the Jets games down there - same seats $86+ in Winterpeg and that's IF you can get them.

The Lightning draw well at 95% capacity and their ticket prices rose dramatically this year.

I think NJ has had their fill or Russians for now.

NJ has a long, proud history of Russian players. At least until last summer.
