Chiefs missing three crucial starters

07:21 AM ET 12.05 | Coming off three consecutive losses, the number -- three -- sets up as no charm for the Chiefs. The Chiefs practiced Wednesday without three crucial starters in left tackle Branden Albert (knee), outside linebacker Justin Houston (elbow) and tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion). ... Fasano, a tight end who caught a touchdown pass Sunday for the third straight game, is undergoing protocol for a concussion and is "doing well," though he hasn't been cleared to practice yet and Reid was unsure if he'll be ready to play against Washington. ... If Fasano can't play -- he is also bothered by a knee strain -- second-year pro Sean McGrath would appear to be the next man up. He started four games in Fasano's place earlier this season when he was dealing with knee and foot injuries, and caught 13 passes for 149 yards.

Given their Shanahan-coached opponents, I think the Chiefs will get back on track.

Kansas City and 31 other teams will be playing without some starters. So what else is new this time of year ?

Kansas City needs to realize they won't surpass Denver. They need to start gearing up for the #4 seed which will probably be decided this week Indianapolis @ Cincinnati. If the Colts lose they would then become the most likely team to be the #4 and that would mean that these two teams would end up playing each other in week #16 and the first round of the playoffs 2 weeks later.

There is only one team in the AFC that has a realistic chance of capturing the #6 seed with a 9-7 record and that is Miami. But they may make it with an 8-8 record.

KC resembles SF, and i don't think either one will go beyond the first round of the playoffs.

It would actually be the number 5 seed for the Chiefs. 4 division winners and 2 wild cards, so the Chiefs will be on the road even if they have a better record.

Anthony Fasano crucial? They must have no depth at TE.
