07:36 AM ET 12.05 | Ever wonder to what lengths a bigtime program might go to recruit? Sometimes, a car just doesn't get the job done. Alabama coach Nick Saban subscribed to that philosophy today when he showed up to a visit with four-star safety prospect C.J. Hampton in a helicopter. Hampton, an Ole Miss commitment from Meridian, Miss., broke the news on his Twitter account. Local TV station WTOK sprung into action and tracked down Saban, who couldn't specifically comment on Hampton, for a brief interview. ... "We had our opportunity and probably the opportunity that the team created for itself but just wasn't able to finish the season like we'd like," Saban told the TV station. "Now is the important time for us to try and go out and get some of the best players in the country to come to the University of Alabama."

Meh. Today's recruits would only be impressed if it were a F-35B or a V-22. Helicopters are so passe'.

It's not over till the fat lady sings. I've been staing close to an Auburn fan here tring to see if I can get some of that magic to rub off. I've been rubbing my rabbits foot also while saying GO MSU and GO Duke. We shall see this weekend if my efforts pay off.

Top of the afternoon to you, Tidefan! So, do you think Jameis Winston is off the hook?

Unidentified Flying object? Do us all a favor and shoot that damn thing down.

This guy has to cheat on his wife right? I mean he goes so hard after kids that have all ready committed elsewhere and tries so hard to get them to come to him. It only makes sense this effects other aspects of his life.

Somewhere, there's a rabbit filing a class-action suit against you for physical disfigurement and mental cruelty. Just giving you a heads-up for when you come back to the Land of the Round Doorknobs.

If off the hook with rape case no. If off the hook for Heisman yes. He should not be considered, with him lying about knowing her then it comes out he left his DNA behind, and then it's oh yea, but that was consensual.

You are a sad individual.

Nothing new. He's been using a helicopter for awhile and was one of the first to do it. Now, a lot of teams are doing it, like Texas A&M and even Vandy, I think I heard.

He's cutting edge for recruiting.

Tide, if you don't have a sense of humor about these things then I feel sorry for you my friend. Let's all not forget that these are games. This is not life, yes they teach valuable life lessons, but in the great scheme of things they really do not matter.

Your program is clearly the standard of college football today. You know that you are going to get the "jabs" and one-liners when you stumble. I think Nick in particular (because he starches his underwear) and is immensely successful (and is $$ hungry) will get more than his share of "love" here on these boards.

We all just like to have a good time and poke one another. Best to you in your bowl game (likely Orange but maybe Rose I hear) and go

BUCKEYES

I predict indictment. I said that two weeks ago based on what we all know. But truthfully who the hell knows. They undoubtedly interviewed witnesses between now and then and they either corroborated her story or his.

So, he has a Satancopter. Cool!

December 5, 2013  09:07 AM ET

Yeah, we're expecting C.J. Hampton to change his commitment to us. I just wish he'd do it already!
